Donald Trump cracks a mention in a 1997 movie

The photo has nothing to do with the movie except that it was taken on a luxury liner. Last night, we went to the movies in our clubhouse and watched Out To Sea starring Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon. The film made its debut in 1997 and one thing I found interesting was that somewhere in the film Donald Trump cracks a mention. It’s over in a second and I didn’t pick up what part of his life it referred to. I did a bit of research to find out what Trump was up to in 1997. In amongst all his other dealings, between 1991 and 2009, Trump filed for bankruptcy protection for six of his businesses. There was a lot of other things going on in his life as well. Out To Sea was the last film in which Donald O’Connor had a part and the penultimate film in which Matthau and Lemmon appeared as a film duo. Next week’s movie will be Memphis Belle.

We knew the film was quite old but it just seemed really weird to hear Trump's name come up.

I don't remember that, but then I didn't know who he was back then.

@RasmaSandra Yes we saw Home Alone 2 recently. I saw Donald Trump's guest appearance. I can guess that he would have been a friend of the Director.

At the clubhouse is it a weekly or nightly movie that you can attend? When you say the luxury liner is that a boat? At first I thought you meant a plane.

It's a weekly movie and it's free. Yes, a luxury liner is a ship.

@JudyEv I watched a lot of older films when I was younger. I've not been watching much of anything for the last year or so. Although my daughter and her husband came over a few weeks ago for supper and a movie but we watched Black Adam which is based on a dc comic. We like to watch sci Fi among other things.

It's intriguing sometimes to see these old films. Especially seeing film stars when they were much younger.

I didn't know he made an appearance in more than one film. The only one I knew about was the first Home Alone movies. Out to Sea is one of the many movies I picked up on the table downstairs. I'll need to watch it soon. I like Walter Matthau and Jack Lemon together.

Trump doesn't appear in this movie but he's mentioned. I think he calls someone on the phone.

I wish he'd go away completely. He is a real worry. Several of our acquaintances think he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. We just shake our heads in wonder.

It just seemed a bit odd to suddenly hear his name in such an old film.

I don't think I heard of Out To Sea before. I know that Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau played well together in the movies.
