Bed has gone through changes in the history of mankind. Now, we have various kind of bed, from water bed to bunk bed, you can choose. What's the surprising fact you have just found out about it? and what's your favorite kind of bed?
From beds for Roman newlyweds, to "hangover" benches for 19th-Century workers: the pursuit of a good night's sleep has followed us through the ages.

My needs for a bed have changed with time. Now I have to check how high it is so that I can get out of it easily.

That is a good thing about the hospital bed. I can raise it or lower it to whatever level I need it,

Ah yes, I agree, although lately, I try to sleep on the floor. It can be excruciating but then i feel fine.

We like a quite large bed with a mattress that covers the whole bed, not two mattress. The history of the evolution of the bed from the earliest known bed (made of woven weeds and rushes) found in a 77,000-year-old cave in South Africa, is fascinating.

Yup, interesting story there. I'm quite intrigued with the kind of bed in ancient Egypt.

@LadyDuck Yes, I have seen it. For me, it's quite unusual.

My favorite bed is a full wave waterbed. I got to have one for a few years and never slept so comfortably in all my life as i did in that bed. I had to give that one up but would sure love to have another one. Right now I have a hospital bed but the mattress is so hard and uncomfortable. I sleep in my recliner instead.

@wardfcsc It is hard to find now around here anymore. Not so popular. No you don't hear bubbles. It isn't bouncy, so to speak. But if you have a partner in the bed, if one of you turns over, the bed rises up like if you might be in a small boat on the ocean. I always described it as how it must have felt being in the womb. It is heated so it is warm. And it sort of wraps around you a little like you are being cradled.

@capirani I see, oh I thought it is cold since I like cold or at least cool bed, not warm. It's so humid and i won't be able to sleep.

Oh, so sorry to hear that. I do wonder how it feels like sleeping on the waterbed, the sound of bubbles under and its bouncy makes a unique experience. Waterbed is nowhere to find in my country as it is seen as weird.

Interesting link thanks. My favorite type of bed frame would be a canopy bed. I never had one, but always wanted one of those.

Wow, classic, what makes me rather worried is that there are mice, rats or even insects on the top of the canopy and fall on the face while sleeping. That's a nightmare :D

Thank you for the link. I'll check it tomorrow. I don't have a favorite bed yet. I've only slept on one for many years.

@wardfcsc It's hard to sleep on the floor. It causes body pains and even pneumonia. I've checked the link. Some used to sleep in cupboards.

Me too, actually I have no favorite. I technically can sleep in any mattress or even floor

I like the bed made of wood and just a mat on it. My bed when I was a teenager in my hometown. Now, I have a huge bed with a mattress.
