My weight loss journey

I was a fat kid off and on while I was growing up. I have lost weight off and on but I found diets were not the answer because I would gain the weight back big time each time I would lose it. I had to find another solution as to how to take the weight off. I one day looked in the mirror and did not like what was staring back at me so I had to do something. I started slow and started to give up things. I had a problem at first and it was hard and then I lost the weight and walk a lot and exercise at home 3 times a day. I kept saying I never want to be that fat person again. It does change someone and I did become a different person and yes, it changed me. Now, instead of snacking in between meals I drink instead.

Sometimes a slow and steady approach to dieting is best. I find it harder to lose weight myself since I've gotten older. Probably due to my metabolism slowing down. Plus, I need to give up those sweets. For me it's a constant battle. But congrats to you Hanni!

@dgobucks226 It is very hard to lose weight but doing it slowly helped and I was younger then but not so much and now I can look in the mirror and wear several things for bed and when I go out and when nice weather comes I will shed the extra things and look thinner I hope. I just did it one day and gave up sweets and cookies but now I can go past food and not want it. It took a long time but thanks so much because I am very proud of myself. My friend where I like to buy his clothes told me when I did it I was half of me and that is very true. I hope I am maintaining because I do not ever want to be that fat person again and now if can get the rest of my life in order I will be ok.

I'm glad you finally achieved your weight loss goals even if it was too hard. What do you drink instead of snacking?

@mildredtabitha We have 6 fast days and two are major where we start the night before and the fast ends the next day in the evening. The other 4 four I eat breakfast and then fast till the evening. I do not have hot water much. I love chocolate milk and used to heat it up in the winter but lately have been drinking it cold. What helped me lose the weight this time was giving up things and not snacking in between my two meals I eat and only drink things in between meals and after I finish my two meals then drink something until I go to bed. When it is cold out sometimes I like to drink the hot water and put some honey in it.

@mildredtabitha It was hard to start with like most things but now it is not hard. We have fast days here and I have gone shopping while fasting. I drink cola, pepsi, juice, hot water and chocolate milk in between meals instead of snacking on junk food.

I have given up a lot of foods now. I also eat less and chew my food slowly so that I feel more satisfied. Good for you.

I am happy for you that you have found a way to lose weight by drinking instead of eating snacks. Losing weight is a hard thing but worth it in the long run.

@Deepizzaguy Yes, it is very hard to keep the weight off. I could lose it and that is very hard because that is why my journey was a slow one and I finally did it for myself and no one else. All the other times did for someone else and that is why I gained the weight back and then some. It was a very hard journey but I did it and feel good about it and am proud because it is a big accomplishment.

I find the giving up things to be hard. Also, if I am not enjoying the exercise I won't do it. I do best when I can be outside when the weather is warm. I have to tell myself about the food it is not permanent..(even if it is) Just until I lose x amount of pounds or whatever.

@snowy22315 That is why I did it little by little. I did not like how I looked and the size I was wearing so I decided to finally do something about it for me finally and so far it has been about 6 years now that I have been on my journey and I also do not want to be that fat person again.

You are great to have lost the weight Hanni. It is very hard to be overweight, I was at around 12 but it was all gone by 14.

@RebeccasFarm You are so right it is very hard to be overweight and you really did great when you were young. I was still going on diets when I was young and losing the weight and gaining it back and hated how I looked but could not stop. It was a long and hard journey but now I can look at food and not want it and that is great.
