The Noah's Magical Zoo Boat Myth

I was raised Catholic and received all of the sacraments (up until marriage) but I just couldn't continue believing in it after getting a degree in biology. I'm a biology teacher but I never push my views on my students. When they ask me if I believe in evolution I just say "I have a degree in biology. What do you think?" The Noah's Ark bible story is absurd. ALL of the animals on the planet on the same boat at the same time for over a month? That is laughable. The lions didn't eat the smaller mammals? The dinosaurs didn't eat the lions? OF COURSE THEY DIDN'T. They didn't exist on Earth at the same time. There is no way that a family on a wooden ark could have kept all of those animals alive while they were trying to eat each other. This is why I don't believe in religion. It makes no sense. So pathetic.

Well, as much as you do have a point there you could also say that Bible stories are sort of like fairy tales. However, having said that I have my beliefs and I know that there is another world and that someday I will be a part of it but that is for me to believe and anyone else can believe what they want. When people ask me what it is that I believe it is enough for me to say I am strong in my faith, I pray to the Lord, and I am glad for His guidance,

Many stories in the bible are just stories. I don't understand how people can believe them as being true. They were written ~2000 years ago in pre-scientific times.

Just because they were written long ago doesn't mean they aren't true.

Well, I don't think anyone with a brain is going to take the Bible literally. I am steeped in Catholicism since childhood.

The stories in the bible have been written and rewritten over time. I believe in God and his son Jesus.

Chicaa, I don't believe in religion, either. Many people were murdered over the centuries by those who used religion as an excuse for it. I believe, not in religion, but a relationship with the Son of God. I've seen lives changed that could have never happened through their own efforts. Actual miracles. Such a difference in religion and faith in a Creator who loves us.

Maybe the animals were programmed not to eat each other??? BUT how did Noah feed all these animals? The whole Noah's Ark thing could be a story that meant something entirely different. Anyhow, have a good day.

You can’t “program” animals.

@NJChicaa God can do anything. Anyway, I think the Bible is loaded with stories that most likely mean something else.
