They are quite different from the frozen or canned ones. I love them.
But there is always a but. I have to wash them thoroughly (the inexpensive mussels here are not farm grown so they have a lot of weeds attached to them.
I washed them hating myself for being so dumb as to buy them as I know that my back will suffer a lot when I´m washing then standing in front of the sink.
Everything ends though. I´m planning to freeze some with the water in which they were cooked. I can even visualise a risotto with other seafood. I think I have frozen shrimp in the deep freezer. And I have bunch onions. And white wine.
I stole part of them though to eat right now with part of my homemade mayo. Delicious!!!
I should eat something else for lunch but it is too hot. So I´ll finish the old ice cream I had (I just bought a new pot).
Then it is nap time, half naked and with the fan on. I opened every possible window that can´t be seen from the street. And there must be wind because I just heard a big noise in the bathroom and saw that a shampoo bottle had fallen from the window sill.
The mussels are still in the pot. I have a glass Tupperware nearby but I won´t shell them until they are colder.
Do you like mussels?

@Beestring We have the Pacific Ocean in one side of our long country and the cold Humbold current helps us have delicious fish and seafood.

@marguicha I agree. I had eaten many fresh mussels when I lived in Canada.

I don't eat any kind of fish or seafood. It gives me an upset stomach.

I love them. And here they are about the only kind of seafood that it is still very inexpensive.
