Sioux City Police Officer Mike Koehler as well as an animal control trainee answered an emergency call from a concerned citizen on Wednesday of last week when a deer had the misfortune of having his antlers tangled in a mesh on a hammock that was between two trees behind a home. Officer Koehler did assist the animal control officer to rescue the deer by warning him that the deer could attack both of them in self defense when they used a knife to cut the ropes that entangled the antlers of the deer who was able to escape unharmed into the woods with the majority of the rope taken out of his antlers with the assistance of Sioux City Police Officer Cade Gill. It is odd for police officers to rescue deer who have their antlers trapped in ropes in hammocks. Link is radioiowa.com/2024/01/31/dee...

I can imagine that the deer might have attacked the men once it got free.

The concern from the police officers was the fact that the deer was going to attack the police officers out of fear.

Glad they could help the deer but I wonder how it got that antler in the hammock,

I guess the curious nature of the deer overcame him.

It may be odd but it is also noble and kind.

I am also wondering how the deer had his antlers stuck in the hammock mesh myself.

Maybe the deer was tired, and wanted a nap in the hammock, but with antlers, that was harder than he thought to do, and so it was lucky he was disentangled by helpful helpers, like that.
