Gladdy is what her mother called Dr. Gladys McGarey when she was a young girl. She is teaching me so much. I am listening to her as much as I can on YouTube. She has a philosophy she calls the 5 L's. The 1st is Life. Life is like a seed, it has many opportunities. But, alone it is just a seed. Add to it some LOVE and it is like adding sunshine and water. The seed fills up with the sun( or love) and then breaks apart to become an intricate part of it all. Love is the counterpart of all of life and is #2. Then #3 is laughter. Laughter without love is hard, rude, and rough. But add some love to it and it becomes joyous and brings happiness. #4 is labor. Labor without love is tedious and hard. But add love to it and it turns work into bliss. #5 is listening. Listening without love is a harsh, empty sound. But add love and it becomes understanding. I found out that she and her husband, William, ran a medical practice in Wellsville Ohio as well as co-founding the American Holistic Medical Association in 1978. They met while she was in medical school. After 46 years of marriage, and just before her 70th birthday William served her with divorce papers. It seems he had been carrying them around in his briefcase for 6 months. He died on November 3, 2008.
