What would you do if you saw a huge bug in your house?

I spoke to my mom the other day and she told me that she saw a huge bug in her bedroom. When she saw it, she thought about whether she should scream or not and decided she wasn't going to scream. I am not sure how she killed the sucker but somehow she managed to do it. If I were in her situation, I would not stand there pondering if I should scream or not. A scream would probably escape me automatically. And I'd definitely run away from the bug. As far away as possible. And then I'd ask hubby to kill it for me. But if he wouldn't be home, I'd stay away from that area until he came back home so he can take care of it. All the while, hoping the bug won't find its way to me in the meantime.

I would tell my daughter (if she is home) because she would volunteer to take it outside humanely .

@lovebuglena Yep - my daughter would do/be the same. I don't mind squishing little ones - it's squishing the big ones that can be gross!

@much2say sometimes I wonder… what if they jump on me or attack me. And that makes me afraid to approach them to try and kill them.

There was some kind of insect in hubby's aunt's house. His cousin went and captured it and released it outside. She did not want to squish it.

I just get out of their way. Bugs aren't unusual here in Florida, and I don't care as long as they aren't on me. If they do get on me, I shake them off.

@lovebuglena Yeah, bugs don't feel that great when they are on you and ants hurt if they bite.

@kaylachan Do all ants bite or only certain types?

It's weird but if I see a small ant on the kitchen counter I don't scream but if it's on me I do.

I would scream and call for my grandson. I once kept one eye open on the thing until my granddaughter could come and kill a spider on my wall. I don't do bugs well.

I remember a few instances where my dad ended up driving to my house to get rid of a bug or a bee. Thankfully, he did not live far from me. Unfortunately, my dad is gone so can't call him to get rid of a creature for me.

I do not believe I would scream. I did not even scream when I found a young snake in the laundry room. I carefully "capture" the intruder and move out.

@lovebuglena As there is the gas furnace in the laundry room, we have a small window with a grill that must be kept open. The snake was small enough to pass through the grill. I have placed a metal fabric that will prevent future problems.

@LadyDuck oh wow! Hope it won’t come again. Though I’ve heard stories of snakes coming through the toilet.

It depends on what kind of bug it is. I can handle the sight of most bugs, but giant cockroaches (what we call palmetto bugs in the South) would send me off the deep end. I hate roaches. I would burn my house to the ground just to kill a big roach. But otherwise, I would just try to scoop any other bug or spider and let them go outside.

@lovebuglena I was chased by a giant cockroach once, and it flew after me as I tried to flee the country. I mean house.

I remember once a giant roach (if that’s what it actually was) brushed against my foot as I was eating at my grandpa’s apartment. I ran into another room and it followed me there.

I might take a broom and shoo it out. I do not like bug guts mashed everywhere. I have also been known to spray insects with the nearest aerosol and kill them and remove them.

If my husband was at home, I would ask him to smash it. If I was the only one at home I would smash it and flush it down the toilet.

I've seen those when I lived with my grandpa in his apartment when I was a teen. I remember I saw one in the kitchen as I was eating. When I ran to the other room to get away from it it went after me into the other room. I ran out of the apartment. Thankfully, there was a guy doing remodeling in another apartment and he got rid of it for me.

I'd just kill it. No use screaming or running from it. It would follow you no matter where you go.

@lovebuglena Bugs do that. At least that's what I've noticed. So, if I can kill them, I do. Fruit flies are the worst. I can't seem to kill them.

It depends. If it's a rain bug, I'd let it out. They signal that rain is forthcoming after many days of high temperature weather.

You just scream as you try to kill it or remove it from the house. I mean if you live alone you don't have anyone to help you out so you just need to face your fears.

Sometimes, depending on what kind of bug it is and what size, I manage to take a sneaker and smash it. But I can't always get myself to do it.

This is interesting as I hate bugs while my wife can tolerate them. Depends on the bugs, if they have aerial and pace advantage, I'd kill them instantly with insect repellent sprayer or soap water plus chemical floor cleaner, if not, well, it's easier to handle.

@wardfcsc I haven’t thought about that. I guess I don’t mind bugs if they are not near me. If one is close to me I am not sure how I’d react. But if it’s on me I’d definitely scream and try to get it off me.

@lovebuglena When the environment outside the house is dirty which cannot be controlled by us, bugs may enter from there if they find the door or window open.

I probably wouldn't have to decide to scream it would just come out. Then, I would either be yelling for my hubby or I would be finding something to squash it or get it out of my house. I can't stand bugs.
