A lion I drew ready to paint.

This is a picture of the lion drawing that I did today. I found his nose and mouth to be the hardest part. First thing I did was draw a 1cm border around the edge of the paper as usual. Then I worked out whereabouts his nose and mouth should be by measuring the reference photo and then trying to scale it up to the size of the paper. I drew in the basic shape of the lion, and his mane and stuff. Then I drew in the eye. When I thought the drawing was finished I took a photo if it, but that showed some discrepancies in the eyes, nose and mouth. So I adjusted them and took another photo. Then I realised the whole mouth and nose were too high, so I had to rub the entirety of the nose and mouth out and start that area all over again! When I thought the new positioning was correct I took another photo. I then realised the eye was too small, so I enlarged that. I eventually ended up with this last photo, but the light was starting to fade by then and that's why it looks dull. Sorry about that! Anyway, I might start painting this on Thursday. But I've still got the villa painting to finish, and the terrible landscape to practice on! And I've also got the sky practice pieces that I hope to turn into finished works too. So a lot going on!
