Darkness and light. Fear and love.

Without light we would be forever in darkness

Somebody once said that we should search the darkness, rather than be afraid of it. We can even learn something from darkness, they then said. This might sound good, but it is far better to shine our light into any darkness, and then it will no longer be there. We cannot learn from darkness, as darkness just makes us more dark. The blind cannot teach the blind. If we use the darkness of our mind to search through another darkness, we will just lose ourselves within that darkness. Leave darkness to itself, and just live from the light of love within your heart. The light which fills our heart is the light of God, whereas only a darker light fills our mind. The light of God is the truth of God, shining forth from God as his energy of love, which lights up all that it touches. "The darkness is the greatest teacher for how to come to the light." A new age guru said this, but he has it all wrong. Darkness can teach us nothing, as it knows nothing. Only the truth can teach us from its light. Darkness just distorts and covers over truth, and we should not try to learn anything from darkened truth, which can only ever mislead one. Why settle for learning from/in a darkened cave, when you can leave the cave, and come into the splendid light of God, itself? "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." Martin Luther King, Junior, (1929 to 1968) the great American spiritual leader said this. Light overcomes darkness. Love overcomes fear, and non-love. We should not dwell in darkness then, trying to learn something from it. Only the light can teach us anything about truth. Darkness can only darken us more. I cannot stand a dark living room since it is hard to see if any cats are in the way not to mention falling down on the floor and suffering an injury.

I also like good lighting, as it is harder to read in poor light. I only like it dark, when l am sleeping.

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16 We are told to let our lights shine

Thanks, that quote from the Bible about sums up very nicely all that I was trying to say there. We need to let our light shine, but also connect ourselves to God, the source of all light, truth, and love, so that our own light will shine even brighter then too.

There is only one thing to be learned from darkness and the the blood of Jesus can break it.

Yes, if we find ourselves in darkness, it should indicate to us to move back into the light, as we are not living from the light.

The only way out of darkness is to shine a light. Light dispels darkness. When you shine the light of God's Word on a dark world, you light it up. God's Word is love. You cannot sit in darkness when His light is in you.

Thanks, that's nicely put. We have the darkness of sin in us, but when we accept God's way, his light shines into all of us, including into our sin, and we do not live from sin anymore then too. God's word, and his love, act to destroy, and to forgive, any sin in us

Yes, Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light. With Jesus helping us, we can live from the light, and truth, while following his way too.

I completely agree with every word you have written in this discussion. I have experienced myself in life several times. Only hope and faith in God gives us a light which helps us in darkness and let us overcome it. Thanks for the insightful discussion. Have a great weekend. Take care

Thanks. Yes, without the light of God in our lives, we fumble around confused, and in darkness. Only God can provide light, and focus, and purpose, to our lives

We need to have our lights on the see where we are going in our life.

Yes, if we try to go through life blind, or in the dark, we will not get far. We need light to show us our path.

We read about the Dark Ages and the Dark Continent. That is mentioned negatively. We are also trying to get some light on the Black Holes where even light cannot escape. It is supposed to be a mystery that can reveal secrets of creation. We need powerful beams to make some impact then. Light is the better choice to live a fulfilling life.

It is said that in God, there is no darkness, and so these black holes can not really be black, but are only illusions of darkness, containing energy too, but just not visible to our own eyes. Perhaps, if we asked our dogs to look at a black hole, they might be able to see the radiation still coming out from them too. We just need to see differently, and our own eyes, without the aid of spiritual eyes too, can never do so fully.

@Shiva49 Yes, the goal here for us is to continually raise in consciousness, so that at some stage we might approach God consciousness too.

@innertalks Yes, we are limited by our senses. That is tough for a few to accept as they think they are the lord of all they survey. Unless we raise our level of consciousness, we will make no headway in our quest to unravel the mysteries of creation. That requires a change of heart and approach to life in general.
