When I first wake up I am not awake

February 9, 2024 12:13pm CST
I go to sleep at night and I am out like a light. When I get up the next morning I may be physically awake in body but not in mind. My wife can talk to me for the first five minutes and I won't remember or know anything she is saying. I tell her you have to wait till I eat and start functioning. Once and awhile she will forget and I tell her nicely I don't know what you are talking about. It is like somebody else takes over my body. Does anyone else feel this way or am I the only one.

It happens with me too. Maybe our body wakes up but our brain doesn't.

@RebeccasFarm Maybe we are meant to ease into our day. After a good nights sleep we do feel refreshed and ready for new challenges.

It happens to all of us. Today it rains and I am up but not fully awaken.

@Itsonlyadream - It has been a cold day because of the rain. Today the sun should be back. You wrote 11 discussions, now you can add a BIO and also a profile photo.

@LadyDuck I added in my bio. I probably will have to change it. I thought it described me and who I am but maybe it is not what people expect. Do you know how to download a picture from my phone? I am still learning. Thank you for helping me get better.

When it rains that totally wipes me out. It is so calming and relaxing. The sound of rain is hypnotic. I need that bright sunshine to keep me going.

I think it's normal. It takes a while for the human body to recover from sleep. Most people are like this. The tiredness normally fades after a little bit.

I go into such a deep sleep it is a whole other world for me. I am so happy and in la la land. I never want it to end. Then on with the day. Thank you for sharing.

@Itsonlyadream I know that feeling. It can be hard for me to shake off that morning sleep, too.

@kaylachan Maybe we should embrace that feeling and we will remember more of when we were sleeping. Dreams and etc... I very rarely remember my dreams. How about you? Even though they say we dream every night.

I don't know how you do it ? It must be a woman thing. All I think about is having food in my stomach. Then the rest happens slowly.

@Itsonlyadream ya sometimes you need those extra few minutes. There are a few morning where I make good use of the snooze button on my alarm.

@Happy2BeMe I love the invention of the snooze button on the alarm. It is so great to be able to close our eyes and snuggle a little longer in bed.

I am like that every morning. It is nice to see other people are the same way at least some of the time. On Sundays my father use to wake us up for church. That was so hard and I begged for is five more minutes.

I am like that a lot of mornings. It takes me a little while to get to myself, usually, I am ok after my first cup of coffee.

Coffee has it's benefits. Who knows maybe some day I will be a coffee drinker. For now I am more like a Zombie.
