Watching the Apps

I thought I would have more of a problem getting used to not having cable than I am. I haven't watched that much cable in the past week. I've also got most of the stuff I had saved in the DVR deleted. I found a cheap site where I can start buying a few must-have movies. I don't save many because they take up space and I used to be able to see them on TCM for the most part annually. Now I won't have that option but will buy my favorites to have on hand. I am even surprised I am able to do without TCM but I have found most of the old ones I enjoy elsewhere and will wander around the apps and see what new ones I can find. It will be a viewing adventure.

We had our cable cut off years ago and have been watching through the free apps on the internet. We have found a lot of the same stuff we were watching on tv when we had cable plus I have found some of the older stuff cable doesn't play anymore we like plus some new things that were good. I'm glad you are adjusting so well.

I find the same thing. I have also found some old, old TV shows I never thought I'd have access to again. It has been fun looking through the apps. I was brought up on TV and am still addicted to it.

@celticeagle Same way here. I have even gotten my 17-year-old daughter into some of the old tv shows.

I have several DVDs. They are nice to have when the Internet isn't working.

I will start collecting a few. I'm just not into it as much as a friend of mine was. She worked as manager of a video store and got them cheap. She had bookshelves all over her house with videos filling them. I just don't have the room or money to spend on that many. I just want a few of the old favorites I like to watch.

@celticeagle We used to buy the VCR tapes as they came out. That was back when the kids were still in school. It was cheaper to buy the movie than take 4 to see it. I have donated most of those now

@wolfgirl569 ......We used to do the same thing. The kids wore out the Lion King and some with prehistoric characters. Don't recall the names.

I'm glad to hear that you're doing so well after cutting the cord. Going to streaming-only has been the best thing George and I could have ever done. We're thankful for it. I'm glad you're handling it so well.

It's a hard cord to cut. We have been with this cable since the late 90's.

@celticeagle I think it's that way for most people. I remember when cable first came out, and how a settop box was the hottest thing. Now, it's all about the apps.

Our cable is getting so expensive that they really should be ashamed of themselves. Have a good weekend.
