Is anyone else a backseat television watcher?

I sit out in the kitchen and write. My wife enjoys her T.V. in the living room. She watches the news, old sitcoms, and her favorite shows. I hear something good and I will walk in. She sees something I would like and she calls me in. I get the best of both worlds. How nice is that.

When my mother was alive and I visited her, it was the same scenario you describe. My husband never watches TV, if I do not turn it on, the house is peaceful.

@Itsonlyadream - When my mother visited, she went to sleep when we also decided to sleep and we turned off the TV. She was very quiet, I cannot sleep if there is even a very little noise.

I love a nice quiet house. It gives me plenty of time to think. The T.V. becomes a distraction. The more I watch T.V. the less I want to write. It saps my creativity and I think it would do the opposite. Spark it with a new energy.

When my mother came up our house to visit she loved going to sleep with the radio on. My wife and I are so use to a quiet house. Because our house is small we would lay awake and say I can't sleep. We would talk for awhile until we got tired and fell asleep. When I was younger I could watch T.V. all the time. Then when I started working it changed everything. I wanted to get up and do things than spend hours behind the T.V. I realized as much as I watched it was funny and later I couldn't tell you what I even watched. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment.

I can relate to that since my relatives like to see football games on television yelling during the football game while I am working on surveys.

So many people love sports and there are so many games on all the time. I never was a big sports fan so I would find other things to do. I hope to do surveys like you. I think it is time better spent. I hope to carry over that excitement to my writing and then it will not only be fun but interesting and thrilling to see an underdog win.

We have a constant give and take. We like many of the same things. I can spend hours reading and dreaming of the next best thing. She is more the planner and more organized. Down to earth and practical. We have a good balance.

My husband watches TV the most in our house. I come in the living room and watch if something good is on.

It is always good to share things with your husband. Sometimes a half an hour is better than four hours. My wife likes her cooking shows and the home improvement series. They are both good I would rather be writing than dreaming. So I catch a little here or there.

I am curious what type of programs do you watch? We watch mostly old sitcoms. Then my wife finds a new program and here we go again. A new series and a whole new adventure.

My mother is like that. I was watching court tv yesterday and she sat down for a few minutes and watched with me. She also listened to a video I was watching on youtube.

We all have busy lives. Sometimes just a taste of something is enough to keep us interested and then we are able to go on to do other things. Thanks for sharing. Mother and daughter time is the greatest.

My wife is the TV watcher of the house too. I rarely watch it except at night and only for a couple of hours. I am generally in my "man room" toward the back of the house while she's in the living room watching her shows.

I think it is great when married couples share together time and also have things they like to do alone. This makes both of you happy.. Thank you for sharing.

your wife controls the remote?

She can have it. There are too many stations for me to watch. I could watch C.S.I. 's non stop. Then any other program at anytime. Never mind the endless amount of movies and old sitcoms.
