The wife who never saw any good in her husband in 40 years

Well, friends, I have a strange tale to relate here. A few days back I had gone to my favorite Tipplers Bar at the US club and being single sat down at the bar counter. I asked for my favorite drink Chivas Regal. I was looking around to chat with someone when a man with grey hair came and sat next to me. It was obvious he was looking for company and we shook hands and I offered a drink. He accepted and said that the next drink would be on him. We clinked glasses and talked of everything under the sun and then suddenly the man smiled, and said," You know Capt I've been married for 40 years." "That's wonderful," I replied. He gave a wry smile and said," You know in those 40 years my wife has told me repeatedly that she hasn't seen any good in me." I was a little confounded by this little bit of wisdom and asked," Are you serious?" "Yes," he replied," I am," in that case, I asked why didn't his wife leave him and go away or he could have initiated the separation, The man sipped his drink, just smiled, and replied that he didn't believe in leaving anybody, I was stumped by the answer, but before I could say anything else, he ordered the second round of drinks, drank his peg in one gulp, got up and left. Frankly, I couldn't make heads or tails of what the man wanted to convey so I presumed that it was nothing serious and I hope it is so.
