The second country to look at is Albania. The official name of Albania is the Republic of Albania. Albania is located in the Balkans on the Adriatic and Ionian Seas within the Mediterranean Sea in Southeast Europe. It shares land borders with Montenegro to the northwest, Kosovo to the northeast, North Macedonia to the east, and Greece to the south. It has an area spanning 28,748 km2 (11,100 sq mi). Several climatic conditions range over Albania from climatic, geological, hydrological and morphological conditions. Rugged snow-capped mountains cover the Albania's landscape in the Albanian Alps, Korab, Skanderbeg, Pindus, and Ceraunian Mountains. A fertile lowland plain extends from the Adriatic and Ionian Sea coasts. Tirana is the capital and largest city in the country. Albania's history spans from 2000 BCE to the present day. Albania has been part of the Illyrian kingdom. Then the Roman Republic annexed it. After the division of the Roman Empire, it became part of Byzantium. The Kingdom of Albania formed between the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries. Albania became part of the Ottoman Empire in the late fifteenth century until 1912, when it declared its independence in 1939. Following WWII, the People's Socialist Republic of Albania formed and lasted until the Revolutions of 1991 ended with the fall of Communism in Albania and they became the Republic of Albania. The official language is Albanian. Other languages are Greek, Armanian, and Macedonian. Albania has two dominant religions - Islam and Christianity. Their government is a Unitary Parliamentary Republic. The Legislature is Kuvendi. Current Albanian history began in 1190 with the Principality of Arbanon and changed kingdoms and republics until the present day, when they established their current constitution in 1998. Thank you for reading about Albania. If you have more information than I noted here, I welcome your incites. Image courtesy of Pixabay. The Albanian flag.

The Queen of Italy (until May 1946) was Albanian, Elena del Montenegro. Italia and Albania still have close relationships.

How interesting. I often forget how many seas our world has. I also found that Albania has extractable minerals such as coal, copper, nickel, and chromium. They are dependent on hydropower for their electricity. Just recently read this in an article about the country I came across recently.

Wow !! That is so well written and presented! I heard of the Ionian Sea for the first time. It seems to have a character of its own although it looks like under the Soviet Influence for a long time. I would also check whether it has a lot of industries or is it primarily dependent on agriculture. A nice share !!

I looked this up on Wikipedia and put it in my own words, as always. I would need to delve deeper to see what the industry is. I know they have it.

@mildredtabitha The flag represents a black double headed eagle. The flag was established as the national flag of Albania when the country gained its independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1912.

Interesting fact about Albania in sport, especially football, they have qualified in European championship again this year, the second time only in history.
