these are some of the cruel things people do to animals. These people hurt animals before they killed people * Mass-murderer and cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer killed neighbors' pets and impaled a dog's head on a stick. * Patrick Sherril, who murdered 14 co-workers and then killed himself, stole pets, then tied them up and allowed his own dog to mutilate them. * David Berkowitz, the so-called "Son of Sam," shot his neighbor's labrador retriever. * Albert DeSalvo, the "Boston Strangler," shot arrows into boxes of trapped cats and dogs. * Brenda Spencer, who fired 40 shots into a crowd of children, murdering 2 and wounding 9, had a history of setting the tails of neighborhood cats and dogs on fire. * Edmund Emil Kemper III, who murdered his mother and 7 other women, used to abuse cats and dogs. * Carol Edmund Cole, who murdered 35 people, admitted that his first violent act was strangling a puppy. * Richard Allen Davis, kidnapper and murderer, doused cats with gasoline and set them on fire. Studies of prison inmates reveal that as many as 75% of violent offenders had early records of animal cruelty. There is also a high correlation between family violence and animal cruelty. A study in 1983 of New Jersey families referred to youth and family services for reasons of child abuse reported that 88% of cases had at least one member of the household who physically abused animals. An English researcher found that 83% of families reported for animal abuse also had children listed at high risk of abuse or neglect. We close with the words of Immanuel Kant: "He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals." Some people are so sick i really do hate this.

This is a story I saw in another post. Just goes to show the horrific things people will do to animals. I'm willing to be these people will continue to abuse animals and might even begin crimes against humans like you suggest: A trail of blood led police to two suspects who allegedly beat a family dog and dragged the animal behind a vehicle in Didsbury. The dog's injuries were so severe; a veterinarian called to the scene had to euthanize the animal on the spot. "This was definitely, in my 10 years of policing, the most horrendous act I've seen against an animal," said Cpl. Kevin Fischer of the RCMP in Didsbury, 90 kilometers north of Calgary. A couple found the female collie-Lab cross lying in the street near Ross Ford Elementary School in the northwest corner of town early Sunday. Their frantic phone call woke Dr. Andy Mencarelli, a veterinarian at the Krebs clinic in Didsbury, who went to the scene. The dog's legs were bound together with duct tape and there was a towrope around its neck. Its head was wrapped in a bag. "There was blood everywhere," said Mencarelli. The dog was able to lift its head, but in too much shock to make any sound, he said. When Mencarelli lifted the dog to the back of his truck to euthanize it, the true extent of the animal's injuries became apparent. "This dog was just broken," he said, adding its neck, pelvis, back and skull were fractured. Investigators believe the six- or seven-year-old dog endured a beating prior to being tied up and hitched to a vehicle. "Indications are the dog was dragged behind a vehicle," Fischer said. The dog had no tags, tattoos or obvious identification, but police officers followed a trail of blood to a local home. Police have laid charges against two teenagers, but Fischer said Wednesday, they are no closer to learning a motive for the crime. "There is nothing, at this point," he said. Daniel Charles Haskett, 19, o f Didsbury has been charged under the Criminal Code with injuring/endangering an animal and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. He is also charged with obstructing police. A 17-year-old male, whose identity is protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with injuring/endangering an animal and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. For adult offenders, each of the animal cruelty charges has a maximum penalty of a $2,000 fine or six months in jail -- or both. The case is also being investigated by the Alberta Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. A conviction under the province's Animal Protection Act can carry a maximum penalty of a $20,000 fine and a lifetime ban from owning animals, but an official said no further charges are being contemplated.

I don't like it either. There are laws to put this kind of people to where they rightfully belong. Report and send them to justice.

I think that people who abuse animals should be severely punished. I have heard before that kids who torture animals have a greater chance of becoming violent criminals. Very interesting post.

These people are mean an cowardly. Abusing an innocent animal is easy because they are so trusting and can't defend themselves against this type of thing. I'm an animal lover and it just breaks my heart to hear about things like this. I think there should be a stiffer punishment for these types of crime.

It makes me physically ill too. I personally feel that animal cruelty laws should be more severe...it seems like the abusers only recieve a slap on the wrist most of the time...it's horrible.

Its quite sick. However, that statements so true. Animal cruelty is a indicater of future problems. Animal kindness shows a person who will be kind later on in life. Its just the way things are. Since, earlier in life its easier to hurt a harmless and defenceless animal than a human.
