Nationwide Outage

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Or when AT&T goes down, get a new phone.
Hallelujah! I have a new phone. I never liked AT&T. My last phone was Cricket - AT&T. It never worked well for me. So, when my son could call me this morning and told me the satellite went down, lost orbit and came down, literally, we went out and got new phone service. I am SO happy!
I have a Razer flip phone from Spectrum. I have it all set up. It's still charging and has been for a couple of hours. I needed to start the pedometer app from the beginning, but that's okay. The food app carried over, which is good.
I have everything I need at the flip of a phone. 
The four-line service plan I was under with my son's girlfriend, Stacie, is also cheaper than Cricket. So, it's a win for all of us.
My son needs to work and couldn't today with the service down. Also, from what my son's girlfriend said, he was low man on the totem pole with Cricket. Spectrum will get him back at the top.
Stacie also called me to see how easy it was to answer the phone and hear. WOW! No more fighting with my phone to answer it.
I can't imagine how the nationwide outage affected businesses today. I'm sure there was some colorful language when people learned their phones didn't work.

@AmbiePam AT&T was awful, we had their service for about a year. Jay switched to something better!

We had AT&T for a while, it was awful! We considered Spectrum, but can't afford new phones at this time. Our phone service Consumer Cellular was down today, probably until noon.

I heard of only a very few people here who suffered loss of service that have AT&T. That is what I have, and mine was fine. Verizon users here were hit harder with the loss of service.
A small town I used to live close to in southern IL. seemed to be pretty much completely out of service for several hours. It was hit and miss.
I am glad you got a new phone since it seems you needed one. Funny how these companies are popular in some areas and not in others. I know absolutely no one here who has Spectrum or every have had it. There are some Cricket users. Many seem to use Straight Talk.
Your lettuce rocks are cute, but please, don't eat them!

I'm glad it didn't hit your area badly. I hadn't heard about Verizon being hit too.
Spectrum is big here. In the city of Green Bay, you have only two choices for Internet service. Spectrum and AT&T. There are many other phone services you can use. Most of the phone towers here use AT&T. Spectrum is cable, so it doesn't have towers that I know of. So, it wasn't hit like the cell towers were.

I don't think there is a carrier we don't have, it says we have Spectrum on the list, but it's at the bottom and as I said, I don't know a soul who has it. I do know Spectrum sold a mass amount of holdings to AT&T recently.

i have not used ATT since we moved. At that time I had Internet with them. It was almost impossible to even cancel. I am glad you had a quick solution.

Not with AT&T so it didn't affect me. I have a cheap ZTE flip phone (cost me $89) that I barely know how to use and I jump when it rings if I happen to be close to it. I just have phone servive, no data, from Freedom Mobile for $19 a month. I rarely call anyone.

I feel bad about the way AT&T has gone. I used to work for them and they were a good company back in the early 80's. Then they went downhill. Nice that you are enjoying your new service.

They have never had good service in our area. We are with Verizon right now. But I check others at times to compare.

@just4him They mostly are but expensive. Heard spectrum might be running Internet through our area. If they do we will probably switch

I actually was unaware the service was down until I heard it on the news. I don’t call on my phone every minute I guess. I could still use wi-fi though.

Glad you got a phone, I have no idea about AT&T it is very strange to find out about this outage because they provide out Internet and there has been not problem all day, I love your salad rocks,

I saw this outage on the news and was very happy that I don't have AT&T. I'm sure it caused a lot of problems for many people. Glad that you were able to get a new phone and service.

We heard about that & thought hum?? that's not good
glade we have Verizon & not all that techy stuff on it.
so to answer your question nope we didn't lose phone
service, but we did lose a whole day from not getting
anything done.
