The Lunar New Year is being celebrated now. It is the year of the dragon. The dragon is the most powerful animal of the Chinese zodiac and the only mythical one . The new year parade happened in San Francisco and is the largest such parade outside of Asia. It is widely attended, even during rain. Luckily this year it was warm and spring like. Many colorful floats and dancers appeared. Aquafina was the grand marshall.

@LadyDuck Yes I know about that . The Mardi Gras parades are big in the southern United States and South America. I have never been to one but they look like a lot of fun.

@Aquitaine24 We do not have a Chinese community here, but we celebrated "Carnival" with floaters and people wearing costumes. Carnival comes the week before Lent.
