Fixing to put a roast in the crock pot, but found out I have no potatoes. Have never fixed a roast without potatoes. I have instant mashed potatoes I can fix after it is done, but no potatoes to put in with the roast. A first for me...how bout you?

Potatoes are not the only "side" for a roast. I always have rice to heat. It can be a good idea and the roast juice makes it delicious.

I do it all of the time with no potatoes since I'm the only one that likes potatoes. A roast is become of its seasoning not because of what you put in it.

I make roasts all by themselves, sometimes with onions, all the time. Being on KETO, the potatoes and carrots are not allowed. But I do make roast with them once in awhile.

If I was by myself, I WOULD only cook the meat and maybe make a salad, but Tom is a Meat and Potato person. AND, it saves me extra cooking...Everything is in the pot. LOL

Poatoas are a common side with roast, but they aren't the roast. the roast is the meat, itself. You can get creative with the side dishes.

Ask people in England and I think most will say a roast dinner isn't complete without roast potatoes
Personally I do like instant mash with plenty of butter and ground black pepper so it'd be good for me

Dumplings spring to mind, that way you don't have to use that instant mash.
