Getting legless for insurance

I'm sure alcohol must have played a role here, nobody can be this daft and still be sober. This person, who was already a paraplegic, decided he had no use for his legs and hatched a plan to claim some much needed insurance money. So he paid someone to hack his legs off with a hatchet. He proceeded to claim for insurance on the basis of having had an accident with a brush hog. Upon investigation, the true facts came out. The wounds were apparently too clean and well-dressed. It was reported elsewhere that initially his legs were lost. Lucky the legs have now been found. The police are declining to prosecute because he is now (more of) a paraplegic. Another entry for idiot of the year.
