Let them eat... cereal?

How times have changed. The CEO of Kellogg's reckons that giving chicken the night off might be the best thing consumers can do to stretch the contents of their wallets. He conveniently forgot to add the price of milk as well as the medical bills downstream from binge eating his sugar laden "vitamin enriched with extra iron" meal replacements. Marie-Antoinette was rumoured to have said let them eat cake and eventually had her head lobbed off. If there is backlash against Kellogg's though, the worst one can imagine now is a golden parachute - sort of a soft landing for corporate greed. Next thing, they'll have cereal ice cream for dessert. Shudder. https://edition.cnn.com/2024/02/26/food/kellogg-ceo-cereal-dinner/index.html

It's either marketing hype to get people to eat more ceral, or the world can't make up its collective mind again.

Cereal have mostly carbs. We need proteins. Instead of cereals, a piece of rye bread with one scrambled egg and some milk can be a good breakfast. I know that in many countries, real orange juice or any other fruit can be expensive. If possible, I´d have one too. AND chicken or fish or legumes later on. No snacks. Veggies. The ones in season so they are not as expensive. We can eat well and not so expensive. I can cook a lot of different dishes with chicken. It doesn´t have to be a whole chicken. That CEO is nuts.

Oh, like cereal isn’t grossly overpriced on top of everything you mentioned (the sugar, the lack of natural minerals and vitamins, etc.)?????

Might go down well with children but I can't imagine many couples coming home from work and looking forward to sharing a bowl of cereal. I was confused by the tagline though - is he suggested that everyone eats chicken every single day?

Cereal isn't a bad thing if you can eat it & not have your health be effected from it, (sugar spikes) I eat a bowl every so often when I don't know what I want or don't feel like cooking anything,
