My family continues to disappoint me

In my family birthdays have always been a big deal. From childhood through college my parents would host the entire family for a big party. As time went on either my parents would have a smaller dinner for my ex and me, my sister, her husband, and their children. When the kids were too young to go out my parents would take my ex and me out for dinner often with my second parents.
My birthday is next month. Today my sister texted me to ask if I wanted to do lunch on my birthday (which is a Saturday) because her daughter has lacrosse practice in the morning but she can probably do noon. Oh sweet so I can get a BLT for my birthday to celebrate? Give me a break. I cannot with these people.
I get that we've all been through hell with my dad dying after that awful ocean accident. But they all had the wherewithal to buy and sell houses and move, sell/buy new cars, etc. If you can't take me out to dinner for my birthday then I don't even know what to say. It is just another demonstration that I am not valued in this family. I'm over it.

I'm so sorry. I haven't seen my family in over 50 years; so I don't have to deal with any family drama. I hope you can arrange to have a good dinner with friends. Have a good weekend.

As a much under valued black sheep, can I suggest that you aim to become fabulous and mysterious? Then they will properly hate you, but the children will adore you. Happy early birthday

I am so sorry. I have seen as family members pass away the family does seem to lose the glue that held it together.

I have had many bdays where although I got a present I didn"t even get a phone call from my mom and dad on the day. So, I guess perhaps..it is all "relative" pun not intended. They are who they are..not that it makes it right.

Sorry you are going through this. We are going through different but similar things here with my sister regarding holidays and birthdays . . . this all happening since my dad's passing a year and a half ago. It sucks. But we (my family and my mom) are going to keep on with the holidays and birthdays to keep on creating happy moments. . . if my sister isn't going to make an effort anymore, then that's her deal.

At least she thought of you and wanted to try something. She could've forgotten and not said anything at all.

That sounds incredibly frustrating. You deserve a birthday celebration that feels special and considerate.

I am so sorry your family treats you this way, You are absolutely right and they should consider your feelings, So you are a March baby too, and a Pisces. I am just asking because March begins on the 1st with my birthday,

I can understand yoir disappointment. Maybe you will be able to celebrate with friends. You would have a much better time with friends than your family.
