My sister asked me to take a listen to this, as my youngest nephew seems quite enthralled by this sort of music. I listened, or shall I rather say, I tried to.
I get we need a permissive society for artistic ideas to flourish freely and that by challenging societal norms, we can in fact move society forward progressively. If nobody ever challenged corporate greed, large swathes of the world would think it normal.
But that is for adults to do. Children need parents who at least try to give them an understanding of the adult world they are being groomed for. Not the guns blazing, tires screaming, cash falling easily and females hanging by every orifice onto your pointy bits world this seems to create for children.
I'm not a prude, but I do think there is something very wrong with a culture that does not take this child into protective care. I think there is something very wrong with a society that allows adults to produce this on the back of child labour (which is partly what this is).
How is it that on youtube I have to sign in and prove my age to listen to a synthpop band like Blutengel, but this degenerate exploitative rubbish can be shoved in my face without any censorship whatsoever, including the lyrics?
My sister asked me how she can prevent her child from even seeing this as he already has a social adjustment problem. Short answer: no dice, she should probably prepare for worse to come.
As an aside, my wife manged about 10 seconds of Ice Spice's new "song". That is your "New Artist" of the year for the uninformed. I think I'll stick to old artists myself.
Google the lyrics if you cannot make out what the child is going on about.
