Mercedes is Not Melania, But of Course

Whenever someone says, "Can you believe what Trump said?" I have to go and dig a little further. There are specific things I am looking for. An element of humor. An element of sarcasm. Context. And of course, the totality of the comments. Not just carefully and often times, strategically edited bits and pieces to create a narrative. Take this example; "Trump forgot his wife's name and called her Mercedes." The truth? It's not true. I watched the CPAC speech. He was talking about his wife, but sitting in the front of the audience was his former White House director of strategic communications, Mercedes Schlapp. He called her out during his dialogue saying, "Well look, my wife, our great first lady, she was great, people love her. Oh look at that, wow. Mercedes, that's pretty good." He even looked at her when he said it and smiled at her, and anyone watching him would have been able to pick up immediately that he was distracted and speaking to a specific person in the crowd. But of course the news media picked it up instantly and edited it in a way to make it appear he had mistakenly called his wife by a different name. Folks, the point here is that in order to be informed, you have to start picking these things up and questioning what the aim is. Trusting the media is a bad idea and does no one any justice. Neither does being an idiot nor being lead around like a sheep.

The local newspapers immediately said that when he said Mercedes he was not talking about his wife. Of course there are those who want to make him seem as senile and the "other guy".

They (the media) will go to any length. Even for Biden to come out and try to use it is...disingenuous and frankly, irresponsible.

I don't know. I mean stacking the two side by side, Mercedes isn't ugly, but Melania seems more...refined. Wait, were we talking cars or women? lol

They simply can't be trusted anymore. People really have to be able to read between the lines, cut through the agendas and narratives and motivations of the press, and be interested in going above and beyond to find the real truth from a multitude of sources including just using good old common sense.

I have never trusted the media to get the context of anything correct. Even on the side of opposing political viewpoints, I will always seek to find out what was really said and the context of it instead of just relying on the media snippets.

Trump would never forget his wife's name. I bet Biden would. If something happens and you are not there to witness it then you can't just accept what others say as what actually happened. You have to do your own research and come to your own conclusions.
