A Little Shock

Pictured is a foot massager, or at least that’s what the box said. Someone gave it to me, and I thought, why not? I hit the button on the timer, and it started up. The electric pulses traveled up my legs as I increased the intensity, little by little. I couldn’t help but think how much it would help people with bad circulation (which I do not have). So yesterday, my legs were really bothering me, so I turned it on. And got the shock of my life up the left leg. It shut off immediately, and I yelped like a dog. Which was only fitting since for the next two hours my leg randomly shook like a dog scratching its head! I guess it should not be a surprise then that when I looked up the product page on the site it came from, that the page said “This item is no longer available.” Well, I hope not!

I'm so sorry it didn't work the way it should. I wonder if the person who gave it to you knew the trouble it had.

It had never been opened or used, so I don’t think so. I think someone gave it to them as a gift, but they didn’t want it, so they gave it to me. I should have listened to my gut though. When I read the instructions, they had a lot of warnings. I just didn’t not want to use it in case they asked about it.

@AmbiePam I remember getting a gift once from a customer when I worked in the food court. It was a pierced earring daisy. It held many earrings. I don't have pierced ears, so I re-gifted it to a member of my family. That person didn't want it and did the same thing until it came back to me. It was hilarious that no one wanted it. It sounds like you should have heeded all the warnings. Now if she asks, you can tell her what happened, or not. You probably don't want her to feel bad for giving it to you.

I am so sorry that happened to you. I am glad it wasn't worse!! When I have something electrical that cannot be repaired, or is wacked out, I cut the cord off before I toss it or recycle it. I don't want anyone to fish it out of the trash somewhere and get hurt.

Luckily, this doesn’t have a cord, butI’ll remember you said that the next time a situation like this arises. I don’t want anyone to ever get hurt like today.

@AmbiePam Right before I moved to where I live now, my microwave flipped out. We had a really bad storm, and it cooked my television. The microwave wigged out big time! It started turning itself on! With no food inside…I used it for two days by unplugging it when I wasn’t using it, but I was afraid I might forget about it. My eldest son got me another one,we cut the cord completely off and threw it away. We were afraid if we didn’t, when I set it out for the junk fellow someone would pick it up and it would start a fire.

No one will have to deal with it ever again. I did get an inward chuckle that I looked like a dog with my leg. I mean, if it had been anyone else, I would not have found it funny, out of concern. But since it’s me, it strikes me like, of course it would shock me.

It did, but it was simultaneously funny and annoying at the same time.

While products like that do exist and are good, that one clearly should've been recalled.

Yikes that's scary Sorry it didn't work because it probably would have been good for tired legs. Wonder if it had a recall at some point.

Big difference between electrocution and a massage, that's for sure.

Oh my, that is awful, I am so sorry that you had such a shock from the machine. You were smart to look up the item and now you can dispose of it knowing that it will not help anyone else.
