The final step of the vacation takes place today, and that’s the oil change. I’ll need an alignment, too. I found out how Texas roads are numbers: if it’s Highway 285, that’s how many potholes they have per mile. All part of living, and here’s another song with “live” in the title. I’ve Lived a Lot in My Time - Jim Reeves First, Linda? NO!!!! And second, NJ Chic? Here’s the guy you keep “noping,” so I know by now you’ve heard of him! And hey, wasn’t he just on last month’s list? Yes! I told you he’s my favorite singer. And while my buddy Deke Dickerson did a rockabilly version of this song on one of his albums, there’s no way I’m skipping a chance to use a Jim Reeves song. This is a pretty spot-on description of life (“I once had a mansion and lived in my glory but now I’m down to my last dime”) and how things change over the years. I’ve Lived a Lot in My Time Written by Jim Reeves, Dick Reynolds, and Jack Rhodes Recorded by Jim Reeves From According to My Heart, 1960 Once thought that everything was fine:

Getting your oil change and alignment done is crucial for your vehicle's maintenance. It's interesting to learn about the numbering system for Texas roads. I love this song.

It’s a joke about the roads. No joke about keeping the car in good condition. That’s how you go ten years between car payments!

That makes perfect sense to me. There are things I have to be “in the mood” to listen to!

Ha, I bet some of those dusty Texas roads seem like they are 285 miles long too. Some of the roads around here seem virtually endless do aI can just imagine how it is in Texas.

It’ll make you think twice when you enter Texas on I-10 and see the mileage sign telling you it’s 890 miles to El Paso.

You can never go wrong with Jim Reeves. If Texas highway numbers are potholes per mile, then New Mexico must count potholes per square foot.

I think “Albuquerque” is from the Pima Indian word meaning “land of potholes.”
