Frugal Food: Lunch from the Dollar Tree

It's been a long day and it is only three fifteen in the afternoon. So before we came back to the room- we decided to go ahead and stop at Dollar Tree. That way if I am not feeling up to it, we don't have to go back out. I wasn't really exactly hungry- but I knew that I needed to eat something. I have been craving ramen noodles. But not just plain old ramen noodles- more exciting spiced up ramen noodles. Those of you who have been around for awhile- probably have seen several different variations on what I do to when I "spice up" Ramen. As you can see in the picture, I got something other than just regaular ramen. I got the Yakisoba noodles, in the bigger container, Chicken flavored. I also got imitation crab meat, butter and nacho cheese bugles to mix up in it. The noodles come with a little veggie packet and a little powder seasoning packet. The noodles were $1.25 The butter was $1.25, but I only used about $0.20 or so of it. The bugels were $1.25, and I only used about half so $0.75 The "krab" was $1.25 So for a whopping total of $3.45, I ate lunch and got pretty full. and there's actually another serving left. So it was a win win. And yeah, I know it wasn't good for me. But again, it is what sounded good and I could actually eat it. So there. Fight with me about that. lol

I used to love Ramen noodles but can't eat them anymore. Just too salty, and with my blood pressure, not a good thing. I used to live on them, though.

@porwest Yeah, and its a little high, but not enough to really need to deal with it more than just keeping an eye on it.

I am sure my blood pressure is high along with every other thing wrong with me, and I don't eat them as much as I used to. But I used to live on them too.

Looks good, I've ordered some off of Amazon. I watch a lot of Korean drama and they are always eating ramen. Mine will be here Friday, not the spicy ones, I had no idea there were so many types. As far as the price you did great. On the news today people are complaining about paying $12.50 for a burger.

You're going to get a lot of different opinions on what's 'good for you'. However, only you can answer that. If that's what you wanted to eat, great. It's fuel. It'll keep you going.

I don't care about what others think is good for me. I've never counted calories, at least not seriously.

Ramen noodles were a staple for those days when, after a hard day's work, you barely had the energy to boil water.

These days they have a lot of microwaveable options, which when staying in a hotel that is the best option for us.

@thislittlepennyearns If I ever would have required an extended stay I'd have picked something like a Residence Inn or Hawthorne Suites which have kitchens. But then, the cost of those is usually a bit more, but you can get fair weekly and monthly rates. Might be something to consider in the future.
