Not Democrat OR Republican

Though I am registered to vote, I really don't side with either party all the way..But...I lean more on the Right than the Left now days. The Right do protests, but none have ended up burning businesses or looting stores. Yes, you can say it..Jan 6th. But no fires were started and no one came with weapons..and none of the protestors killed anyone. Past all that, the Democratic party has become so Liberal..pushing Transgenderism on CHILDREN is dangerous! Allowing Sexual explicit books in Elementary Schools is NOT acceptable! Sexual explicit short videos and Advertisements on the internet is NOT acceptable for CHILDREN! Giving free food, health care, and housing to ILLEGALS..using hard working people's taxes is WRONG! Especially when Veterans are homeless. Biden could STOP Illegals from coming here simply by no longer giving out FREEBIES and closing the border..making them stay in Mexico until they are Vetted! But he wants that money for Ukraine, and using the border to get that money for Ukraine..so I guess Ukraine and Pallestinians are more important than Americans! Last night Biden said he wanted to ban assault weapans..But no one in DC can really explain what an assault weapon really is or even how it really works. So to be able to vote I will stay a Republican, as I can not honestly support much of anything Democrats support.

I agree with you. I was a Republican but now I consider myself an Independent.

I am only a Republican so I can vote in local and general elections. Can't really vote on much of anything as an independent.

That's really what it comes down to and what it should come down to over party. I am a conservative Republican. That is how I am registered. But for me it's really about the policies and what is important to me. It just so happens that most of the policies and issues I side with are Republican issues.
But I always do continue to leave my options open. I am a Republican second. Not first. That position is for America. I am AMERICAN first. If it happens to be that one day a Democrat espouses my values and positions and addresses issues important to me in a sensible way, that Democrat will have my vote.
I encourage all people to simply go down the list of things that are important to them and see who gets the most checkmarks on the "I agree" side and leave party out of it. But of course, I also encourage people to be active in understanding what the people they support are actually in support of. And many don't bother to check.

My Grandmother who raised me was a staunch Democrat. But given what the party is doing today...I doubt she would vote ONLY Democrat. And I realize that not all Democrats actually agree with everything that is going on with their party, but they vote as a team...only to stay in power. Not good. I, too, remember when many bi-partisan bills/laws were passed. And actually several bills have passed that would help the border, but the Senate is now the problem...and it doesn't seem like anyone in the Senate SEES the danger and the destruction this open border is bringing to our country...they only want more money for Ukraine, but won't separate the 2 as they see that most Republicans do not see the need to give more money to Ukraine without tracking where that money is going to...we already know the leaders of Ukraine are corrupt, and have missused funds in the past. And Biden will NOT do anything because HE wants that money for Ukraine. I am so hoping that Johnson stands firm. We need our border taken care of before we send money elsewhere.

@Ghostlady We both know that the issue really isn't the Senate when it comes to the border issue. It's Joe Biden. Sure, bills have come forward. But it's what is IN those bills that matter. They are the issue. All Biden has to do is return to, with the stroke of a pen as he did to reverse them, Trump's border policies which we know worked.
Even many Democrats are finally coming home to accept this. No matter how much Democrats try to twist facts, eventually reality becomes too impossible to ignore. The economy has proven to be that way as well. Biden has been selling Bideomics as a great success, but people living through it every single day know it is simply not true.
You can't twist the facts. The reality has become all too real, and it conflicts with the narrative Biden's trying to make.
As for Ukraine, it's a multi-fold issue and I think, quite complicated. We don't want to see innocent people thrust into the tragedies imposed by war, especially when you have a regime like Putin's who don't play by a certain set of rules that leaves innocents out of it. You don't want Putin to be encouraged to expand their troops to conquer other places...Poland for example. But at the same time whether or not we realize it we are engaged in war with Russia by proxy, and that also makes us a potential target.
The bottom line is, it's complicated.

@porwest I agree with you, and if Biden did that...re-instated what Trump had in place...it would give him a boost in the election, as people would THINK he has THEIR best interest in his actions. But I just don't think it will happen. He seems to be out of touch with what is the RIGHT thing to do for the country, and only will do what his supportes (money pits) want done. The Nat'l Chamber of Commerce is involved with this border issue, and NOT in a Good way. Biden destroyed everything he could that Tump had in place...his hatred and greed and those of his Money people is more important than this country.IMO. It made me angry when I heard how the ladies on Cnn or MSNBC..Not sure which one...actually stood up for the Illegal that killed the nurse. What is wrong with these people? Do they not have a heart?

My mother has found herself in the same position. She has been a Democrat her whole life, but says the party has left her. She felt it was the working man party but is not anymore. I will say, what they did to Joe Biden was very dishonest. He deserved to run as the sitting president, they made him step down.
