Gyozas, pot stickers or dumplings - they're all good!

I love these little Asian triangular raviolis. I especially like the dipping sauce that comes with them. I could make a meal out of them. I'm not as fond of the steamed ones, but the pan fried ones are just delicious!! I always hope I can get them when I eat at an Asian restaurant. Sometimes my budget is too tight, so I can't add them. Other times, they might not offer them. Buffet style restaurants almost always have them, even though they're somewhat dried out from sitting on the steam table, but I still enjoy them.
I wish I could find the sauce in the grocery store so I could enjoy it at home with different things. I even add it to the rice in my Katsu Don to add flavoring to what's left in my bowl.
Does anyone know exactly what the ingredients are in that sauce? I know there is ginger in it, but I don't know if it's dark because of soy sauce or something else. It's sweet and tart and just yummy!

We love gyozas! We like those steamed ones too (any of those dumplings are yum!). But we don't use any of the sauces. I know I've seen gyoza dipping sauce in a bottle . . . but there are lots of recipes for it online. If I'm not mistaken, I think it's soy sauce and rice vinegar minimally - but you can add ginger, garlic, green onions, sesame oil - however you like it.

I wondered about it. I figured soy sauce and ginger, but I don't know if rice vinegar is the sweetness in it or not. I see seeds floating in it (I think they're seeds) that remind me of red chili seeds. Sesame oil might be there as well. It looks a little oily on top when I use it. But, I surely do like them!

@jerzgirl Rice vinegar comes either sweet or unsweetened (we buy unsweetened so we can adjust recipes ourselves). I have seen recipes with crushed red pepper flakes in it. If you have all those ingredients, you can make all the sauce you want and cook other Japanese recipes as well. But well, the already made bottle makes it super convenient .
