When I wrote a letter to cheat the Australian Government

As I read some pages of of a novel on illegal migrants I recall what I did to help a Nepali migrant in Australia.
In those days I was a teacher in a High School in Nepal. The owner of the school had a son in Australia either on a student or a work visa. His visa was going to expire. His father asked me write a letter for the Australian authorities requesting not to send the young man back to his country.
You know what were the reasons I was told to cite in the letter. I wrote the Maoist extremists were growing stronger in the country and that they would definitely kill him if he returned !
It appears the letter worked as intended. The young man was permitted to stay longer in Australia. And after 24 years I guess he is still there.
After two years in that school I myself migrated to another school.
I recall the incident with a little chuckle!

@franxav Well that makes a nice change. Usually the world is entering the USA illegally.

Well done you! I think nowadays it might be a little harder to sway the authorities. They are very strict nowadays.
