@Happy2BeMe - All the ancestors I know from what my grandparents and great grandparents told me, were born in Italy from Italian descendants.

@LadyDuck It is interesting to learn those things. All my ancestors were Scottish from as far back as I heard. I was suprised by the 23% Irish because I wasn't aware of any Irish roots.

No and no. I know all about my European ancestry and the only part that is not clear to me is the part of my Peruvian maternal greatgrandmother. She could be of Spanish ancestry, but it is also possible that the are some bits of Native American blood (Quechua, Aymará?). I have Spanish, Italian, Croatian and German blood, being the Spanish and German the biggest part of it.

@Happy2BeMe Yes. That´s what America has done for us all. That´s why I´m not against immigration. I just want to select the good people.

@marguicha we have a lot of immigrants in our city. Three of my co-workers are from Ukraine.

I have done one of those test my results of my British and Irish part of me is 16.7% out of the 66.8% of my European making. My souther European is 26.2% and most of that is be being of Spanish and Portugues decent (23.2% of me). The rest of me is Indigenouse Amerian (meaning Hispanic mixtures) and Sub-Saharan Afterican.
I always knew I had some Irish in me because of natural red high lights just didn't know how much so.

I have never had one done, but I do know about my family tree on both sides and know that I have no Irish roots. I do have English and a little Scottish, and Greek.

Yay! We have some Celtic roots from my grandmother..but it they are Welsh. In my natural hair I had red glints. In one of my school pics my hair looked red.The majority of my roots are German and Scandavian.

Yes I did the Ancestry DNA several years ago. My Irish has switched with Scottish which none of us even had a clue about. My Scottish is on my paternal side and I don't know which ancestors as so far I don't see any births coming from Scotland. My Irish is on my maternal side and I did the DNA test to follow up on the main Irish line. It is my huge brick wall.

@Happy2BeMe We can know our lineage to a certain point. However, once DNA is involved, it goes much deeper. For example, your Scottish g-g-grandfather in Scotland marries a young lady with Irish and German heritage. You recognize the Scottish, but if you don't know the heritage of every person in a blood relationship with everyone else, the mixtures can get very interesting. This is what I find so fascinating with the DNA part of genealogy. So many interesting things can be found out that you did not know about before.

I am Scottish on both sides of my family as far back as I am aware that is why I was so surprised when the Irish percentage was a 23%

@capirani That is so true. My sister's husband found a cousin he never knew he had. Apparently his uncle got a woman pregnant many years ago and left. The daughter had did the DNA testing too and they reconnected and have been to visit each other. It was pretty cool.

We went through a different company. I'm nearly fifty percent northwest European. 28 percent Anglo-Saxon and the rest is Scandinavian. In other words pretty much Dutch through and through.

@Happy2BeMe The problem with that is you are related so by association she has put your genetic data out there too.

I wouldn't do a DNA test; but I'm pretty sure my roots are all Italian. Have a good day.

Yes, my son gave us the DNA Ancestry kits for Christmas one year. I have Irish. It was a fun thing to do.

Vince has enough Irish in him to be considered an Irish citizen but I don't think there is any Irish on my side.
