My Wednesday

On my way to the dentist yesterday I stopped by the library to return a book I had borrowed and picked up two books. I didn’t really have time to browse much so picked up two books I stumbled upon. One was a book by an Icelandic author I had read before and another one was by an Armenian author. Both were translations of course. I am close to the halfway point with the Icelandic book. After my dental appointment, as I was waiting for the train, I heard someone yell that there’s a person on the tracks. I looked and sure enough someone was lying on the tracks in the distance. Then I heard sirens and many police offers came. Some stayed on the platform while others dropped down to the tracks and went to fetch that person. They came back with that person in handcuffs. I couldn’t tell if the person was male or female but it seemed like he or she was young. Wonder what possessed that person to do that. While I was waiting for the train it became very windy and started to rain… I saw trains in the distance but they weren’t moving. Even after the cops had already gotten the person off of the tracks. Guess they were waiting for the all clear before they could move again. When the train finally came I went to my mom’s house to deal with her clogged bathtub and stopped by the pharmacy on the way to pick up her prescriptions. Ended up having dinner there as well. Overall, it was an active day. Good to stay busy.

Really sad about the person on the tracks. I'm glad they got him/her in time. Hope you have a good weekend.

A person has to wonder the reason why someone wants to do that, die on a railroad track. They have lost all hope, it is so sad. My daughter and I were recently stalled in traffic off of one of our interstates, someone decided they were going to jump from one of the overhead passes. It was a huge mess, they had it all blocked off. There was of course no choice but to sit there and wait, and wonder if someone managed to talk the person out of it all...and no, they didn't, the fellow jumped. Very sad.

Oh no! Whoever was trying to stop the person from jumping must have felt terrible that they weren’t able to save the person.

I wonder why the person on the tracks was handcuffed.

@lovebuglena Sometimes, no matter what, a person can't be talked out of it. It's terrible for the people trying to help, very traumatic to see that.

That sounds like a wild day! Witnessing someone on the train tracks must have been really unsettling. I'm glad the police were able to intervene safely, even if it caused major delays. And how nice that you were able to grab a couple interesting books by international authors while out and about. Dealing with a clogged bathtub is never fun, but at least you got to have dinner with your mom afterwards. Eventful days like that make for good stories later on.

The gunk that I fished out of the tub was nasty.

It would have been awful to witness someone crushed by a train! I can't imagine anything much worse.

How awful that someone apparently was trying to end their life by lying on the train tracks! I’m glad your day ended well.

I’ve seen this happen before but the person got up and left. No cops ever came. Maybe some do it for fun or for social media likes.
