Write down a tall list of words that make you feel good and read them to yourself first thing after waking up and just before you go to bed. Doing these everyday empowers you and reduces stress. Get into the habit of exercising daily. Play a lot with your pet and engage in long series of chats everyday whether online, on phone or face to face. These calm your nerves and make you feel relieved. Try as much as you can to help others succeed in life. Don't be self centered. Once in a while read a book, watch tv shows or movies especially comedy and drama, visit a musical concert, listen to music that sooths you and keep you focused, attend a sports event. If you are living in the country side, make a backyard garden and take good care of it. And for the youngsters, watch entertaining shows...

Are you a doctor? A psychiatrist or psychologist?
Depression effects more people in the world than we even know. Too many people figure they know everything about it when they really don't. Your suggestions may be helpful to some of us who suffer from depression, but if it is true depression, these will not overcome the condition.

Depression is the opposite of happiness. Look for happiness within you by doing what makes your spirit free. Seek the happiness of others, the joy of doing this will flow back to you.

I overcome it by walking in nature and good movies and shows.

Nice article! Everything you shared if practiced can make life meaningful. I like watching nice movies and going out. Traveling is fun too.
Everything you shared is really helpful. Confessing positive words everyday can help overcome bad memories too

I have plenty of things that get me depressed but I don't let
them get to me, I just take it in stride & ride or I work my tail
off outside to relieve the stress I have withing me, or just take
a walk where I can talk within myself to get it off my chest.

I don't have a pet anymore, but I do engage in a long series of chats especially on here! I regularly read books and magazines, and we watch TV all day! I listen to music especially Sam Ryder and Andre Rieu. I don't like sports. I usually walk about four times a week. I don't like sports. I'm still pretty depressed. I'm on the peri-menopause, so.that doesn't help. Living with my Mum and step-dad is stressful. I'll try making a list of words that make me feel good but I don't know what affect it will have.
