In January we were having supper at our son’s house. It just happened to be Robbie Burns day.
My job was to bring dessert.
Without collaborating, I decided to make an appropriate dessert.
Google is my friend. A recipe or two or three came up for a Scottish dessert….Cranachan.
Make a list….raspberries, steel cut oatmeal, whipping cream and the best Scotch I can find (in a small bottle).
I live my grandkids, but did not risk my crystal glasses, so I also purchased clear disposable cups in the appropriate size.
It was a dessert that needed some prep time the night before but otherwise was quite simple.
I’d love to tell you they enjoyed it, but alas, their mother disapproved of me letting their children taste real scotch, and as a result the kids all took a bite or two and said, they didn’t care for it.
Personally, I, my husband and our son all found it to be resfreshing and very tasty without being overly sweet.

It sounds like a very interesting dessert.
I would try it.
We bought a mickie of scotch in 1987 when we were married as we were having my aunt over and that was her drink.
I believe that the remains of that little bottle are still here.
Our son and his wife would not allow their girls to have any scotch either, they are not even allowed to drink pop.

I haven't heard of it. I'm glad you liked it. I'm sorry the kids didn't.
I'd leave out the scotch. I don't drink. The picture looks good.

@Morleyhunt I'm sure it's good, but it's still not something I would normally buy.

That sounds very nice to me. I might need to try it sometime. I've taken a note of the name so I won't forget.
