In January we were having supper at our son’s house. It just happened to be Robbie Burns day. My job was to bring dessert. Without collaborating, I decided to make an appropriate dessert. Google is my friend. A recipe or two or three came up for a Scottish dessert….Cranachan. Make a list….raspberries, steel cut oatmeal, whipping cream and the best Scotch I can find (in a small bottle). I live my grandkids, but did not risk my crystal glasses, so I also purchased clear disposable cups in the appropriate size. It was a dessert that needed some prep time the night before but otherwise was quite simple. I’d love to tell you they enjoyed it, but alas, their mother disapproved of me letting their children taste real scotch, and as a result the kids all took a bite or two and said, they didn’t care for it. Personally, I, my husband and our son all found it to be resfreshing and very tasty without being overly sweet.
