Guests staying later than expected, what would you do?

Today the weather was lovely, it was sunny and warm.
It was a long day at work and I came home very tired.
In the evening my daughter invited her friend over and they did some painting and puzzles.
My daughter's friend is older and doesn't have school during the Easter break. I was waiting for her mom to pick her up and she came so late, just before 9.30pm. Then my daughter was overtired, she should have been in bed by 9pm.
We need to get up very early in the morning and everyone is sleeping now. I finally have some time to relax and catch up with the discussions in Mylot.
Has it ever happened to you, to have guests that stay longer than expected?

I don't know about that. Though I do know I had a friend who once asked me if my husband was comming to get me.

I often encounter this situation. We have to sympathize. Because we have guests from time to time, right?

I wasn't expecting that to be honest, her daughter said she wil come for an hour and then her mom will pick her up. It happened in a strange way and I never saw her mom, she lives in the neighborhood and the girl went in her house to get her permission for the playdate. But then the mom must have left, because the car wasnt there, I sent my husband over to see why they didn't come yet.

@besweet It has happened with me too;and I know what it means when guests stay at your home for more time. But I somehow manage to be patient. It's very difficult.

I'm afraid I might be the late person, we're not a very early-to-bed household. And of course if you didn't see her mother before then you didn't get a chance to talk about what time might be appropriate. If you see her again maybe you could let her know that your daughter needs to go to bed earlier.

I know what you mean, when we go to other people's homes for playdates my daughter doesnt want to leave, she doesn't care about bed time at all. The girl talked with her mother and she was going to pick her up in one hour. I said it was fine, however she came after 2 hours. She was probably stuck somewhere because their car wasn't home.
