Grocery Delivery, Coffee and an Earthquake

United States
April 5, 2024 1:45pm CST
Happy Friday everyone! This was the weirdest start to my morning. Who would have anticipated an earthquake here in Pennsylvania. Apparently a 4.8 magnitude earthquake startled many of us here on the east coast. At first I thought it was the garbage trucks coming down the block, then fighter jets flying overhead until the house started shaking This is my first (and hopefully only) experience with an earthquake. Even though it only lasted about 30 seconds it felt much longer. The rest of my morning was spent calling and getting phone calls from family and friends in addition to numerous texts. Usually I'm here while I have my morning coffee but today I'm really late after a whirlwind start. The day is disappearing but I wanted to at least say hi and hope your Friday is going well.

I remember the first earthquake I felt in Oklahoma. Stuff started falling off the bookcase, and I got up out of my bed like, whaaat? I’m glad you were able to pop in here again though. I knew it was felt in a couple states, but I didn’t realize Pennsylvania was one of them.

For something that lasted only 30 seconds it took up my whole morning with calls and texts from friends and family. So many of us felt it. I was just going to pour my coffee and pop on here when the house started shaking .Apparently it went all the way up to Boston

Yeah, and I think it's too late for humanity to undo the damage we done.

I hope this is my one and only earthquake. Hope you never have to experience it. Seems as if the weather is getting crazy all over these days

Interesting! That 6.4 magnitude Earthquake that hit the East coast was centered in this county. There was lots of internal damage. I had a big mirror that broke. The after shocks were scarier than the original quake.

The newscasters mentioned that earthquake you are talking about. So far we haven't felt any after shocks.

I had heard the earthquake was a 7-something. Maybe you are further out from the epicenter. I remember my first. I was about 8 and asleep in the backseat of my mom's car. We had one small one here a couple of months ago. Glad all is okay.

I'm very happy it wasn't worse. It was pretty scary for those 30 seconds that it lasted.

It certainly was a shock since I didn't think we got earthquakes here. Apparently we do but they're so minor they aren't even noticed. I'm glad I don't live in California

I didnt see the news, hope all is ok. You never have earthquakes there? I have experienced many earthquakes as a kid and they are scary. After the big earthquake in Athens in 1999 I remember we made a family plan about what to do if there is a bigger earthquake after.

Earthquakes are rare in my part of the United States but common the opposite side of the country. It certainly was scary even though not that major according to the Richter scale

We have only had 2 that I recall, but it is the strangest experience. Earthquakes are not something I would want to get used to. I hope that the rest of the day was routine and calm.

It was a bit unsettling when we realized it was an earthquake. Thankfully we didn't feel any aftershocks but I heard on the news there were some. The rest of the day was calm and routine and I even snuck in a nap

When I was quite young, I felt an earthquake but saw no mention in the media. Good that no damage was done.

There are many jokes on Twitter about the epicenter being just miles from Trump's Bedminster golf club. #Ivana is trending too.
