4/8/24 - Update on My Husband

My husband's friend stopped by to see him yesterday and found him in good spirits. When I spoke to my hubby last night, he said that someone actually responded to his call light in an hour. Usually it's 2-3x longer. I will get on the phone again this morning to see if the Social Worker called the Admissions Director at the new rehab facility. I will also complain to the head honcho about the length of time it takes for the nurses to respond to the call lights. AND I have to call the step/railing guy since he never called me with an estimate. Sigh. Thank you for your continued support, prayers and thoughts. Photo Credit: Pixabay

Oh my gosh, only one hour to answer the call light! Are those nurses crazy, lazy, or out to lunch?

@kobesbuddy A lot of what they have to do is undesirable; so they tend to ignore the call lights.

I hope that contractor calls you soon so the railings and new step can be put in place before your hubby comes home

That is very unprofessional to not call back a potential customer. Taking an hour to respond to a call light is still bad. What if something is really wrong and needs to be addressed right away?

@lovebuglena Because they're lazy and really don't want to do the things they are expected to do.

He may not really want to do the job, If you have to chase him just to do an estimate what is he going to be like on the real job? I think I would move on. Glad hubby is in good spirits.

@snowy22315 It's very difficult to find someone who will do a small concrete job and also installs railings. And most of them will use Home Depot railings.

@LindaOHio — I know. I went to a Target the other day and was genuinely shocked that the people there seemed to actually like their job and want to HELP.

@LindaOHio When we first moved in here there was only a railing on the right side of the stairs going up to the second floor. As soon as I could find somebody, I had a railing installed on the other side, too. I felt the difference right away. Total relief.

Good luck getting your husband the care he needs. I was fortunate to be able to spend most days at my husband’s bedside giving him additional support, and advocating for him when they wanted to skip one of his meds.

@LindaOHio they thought the med was merely a suggestion of something he “might” need.

It's such good news to hear that your husband is in good spirits. What a shame that you have to keep calling about his call light and so frustrating that the railing guy hasn't gotten back to you.
