A Wild Week

I was an absent last week. Tuesday morning I drove my husband to the Cardiac Care Center to be admitted for a mitral clip procedure The doctors explained the entire procedure that would occur, Wednesday afternoon, to us. He assured us that with his place in queue he would not be bumped. I spend Wednesday morning distracting him, then when they took him down to perform the procedure I went for a walk. Four and a half hours later they returned him to his room iwith constant monitoring. The doctors told me the procedure went well, but because of all his other underlying conditions it will be a long slow recovery, and much is wait and see how everything responds to better blood flow through the heart,. Yesterday I drove him home. I’m still exhausted, even after a good nights sleep in my own bed. The view from his room.

I am glad that the procedure went well. As they did not keep him very long at the hospital I imagine he feels pretty well, but surely the recovery will be slow and long. Try to rest and take care also of yourself.

They performed the procedure on three patients on Wednesday. Two were sent home already on Thursday. They wanted to send my husband home on Saturday..I refused to take him. Sunday morning he was much improved. They seemed to forget we had a 2.5 hour drive home.

@Morleyhunt It was a long drive home and I would have also refused on Saturday. The hospitals do not send people home on Sundays here, too hard to find a doctor in case of a problem.

@Morleyhunt I hope in the next few days he starts feeling better. It's discouraging when he doesn't feel well and has to recover his strength.

@Marilynda1225 he has been unwell for so long, and unable to do much that it’s not a surprise that he needs time to heal and regain some strength.

So far he’s disappointed with the results. I think he is a little less short of breath but he is so weak, it will take a long time to rebuild some strength.

Yes now we wait to see how much he can regain. Today we tried a very short walk. That was a workout. Now he’s resting.

Is that the view from his hospital room? Vin has to go for another procedure tomorrow, all in preparation for replacement of his mitral valve in May.

Yes, that was the breathtaking view from his hospital room. The next day it was snowing so hard you saw only white. It had all disappeared again the next day. Good luck to your husband.

It went as well as could be expected. He has many other health issues to limit his recovery.
