Oh my goodness. Got a call from my favorite person, the Social Worker, telling me that hubby's insurance will run out tomorrow, April 19. It was up to me to file an appeal, which I did. He hasn't done steps yet; and he must go up 3 steps to get into the house. AND he has just started to walk with a walker. We will see what happens in a couple of days.
His cousin wants me to check with insurance to see what kind of home help is available, also therapy. Hubby wants me to call Eldercare to see if I need to hire a lawyer....so I will be making some calls this morning.
Would appreciate any prayers and positive thoughts you can send our way! There's no way he's ready to come home quite yet.

I have heard you can get them to cover longer but you need the doctor to write that he has to be there. Calling around will give you more information

@wolfgirl569 He never got a new PCP. The doctor that handles his rehab facility could be contacted to write a script for in-home physical therapy which can last for 2 weeks. As far as the appeal goes, that has already been filed.

What doctor? The one that he's never seen that handles that facility?

I'm hoping the appeal is accepted and he gets to stay longer.

Oh my..I will pray for you. I think he should be attempting some stairs and some outdoor walking before he comes home.

I would honestly be calling an attorney. There’s no way it can be “legal” to tell you, 24 hours before the fact, that your insurance is up.

I agree. Once you get a lawyer involved, it generally end right there.

@MarieCoyle — I hate getting them involved, but sometimes it’s the only way people will listen.

@sallypup I need someone to advise us; and I don't know who that would be.

So "kind" of her to give you ample time to get all of this done.

This is distressing. I thought America is more organized. I would think they would be aware of what can be done in such situations, and advise you accordingly, and even assist you, if you need such assistance. Talk about indifference in procedure establishment.

@LindaOHio Extremely. They have other patients, and experience with them. They need to reduce your work and theirs too. Very inefficient procedure.

Linda, I just commented on your more recent post, but I know you're in a panic. How in the world do they think he can even get in the house! I'm praying for you both.

@LindaOHio Sorry to hear that. Seems like things are going smoothly and then everything gets turned upside down.

I hope you can get the insurance to cover more time for your hubby. As much progress he's making he still needs physical therapy. So much stress for you and certainly not a call you wanted to hear,
