Just outside our bathroom window grows a tangelo tree. Look who built a nest on a straggly branch !
From this bathroom window, we can see this little hummingbird mama and her nest. We have a front row seat view (literally front row seat if you know what I mean ).
The bottom half of the bathroom window is frosted, so she does get privacy. We keep it cracked open to take peeks, and she doesn't seem bothered by us. I wish we could see inside the nest, perhaps we'll have to wait!
Has Spring brought you any surprises ?

@Tampa_girl7 Oh Marie, I didn't have the heart to say anything here. A couple or so days after this post, the Mama didn't return to the nest - she just never came back . At the time, the nights and early mornings were pretty cold - not sure if that had anything to do with it - or we have a couple cooper hawks around too .

A few years ago, we had a hummingbird build her nest in a big Rose Of Sharon bush by our front porch. I figured it would never stay, with the ins and outs of the door being opened and closed, but it did. So very fascinating to watch! Enjoy your ''throne'' moments!

We saw 2 little ones. They were there one day next to mama, and then they both flew off with her. There must have been just two eggs? We never knew for sure. The nest was so, so tiny!

How did I miss this ..... oh wait, I know how, I'm not on that often anymore so I don't always see what you've posted.
I haven't seen any hummers yet or rather I haven't heard any, they're so fast I rarely see them. It would be so kool to see something like this. Ok ok, I'z jealous

Cool. I don't see many hummingbirds near me but that could be because I don't have a good place to sure in front of a window to watch.
I did but flowers for butterfly's and hummingbirds long ago but wasn't around much to see if the flowers brought in visitors. Once I'm completely retired maybe I can get into some bird watching.

This has never happened in our yard before. We were fortunate with this one, but unfortunate in that the mama hummingbird did not come back a few days after this post .
I hope you will have more time to bird watch too! Nature is quite fascinating!

@MarshaMusselman There may or may not have been eggs (didn't see), but it was so early in the game that babies birds never came to be. The nest is still there, as is.

I didn't have the heart write an update post. Not even a few days later, the hummingbird went missing . Or maybe it abandoned the nest . . . I wondered if it had anything to do with some of the cold weather we had. Hubby did manage to take a photo of the nest without disturbing it . . . I think there was 1 little egg in there. I was hoping momma would just show up one day - but she never did .
