MED TALK - I'm not afraid to share this now

myLot friends, we're all on our meds.. most of us, anyway. Some luckies don't need to take any at all.
Some of you may know, or not know, that I've been on an anti-anxiety medication for around 15 years now. Probably should have been on it sooner, I was always somewhat of a hyper child. Not the kind that "can't sit still" in class.. more like just jumpy and distracted.
I won't say the name of the med, but it's a highly addictive anti-anxiety (not antidepressant) - I happen to be this strange combo of nervous yet happy. My doc says it's very rare, most ppl born with anxiety eventually develop depression from it. But not me, I'm Friendly-Fran over here.
Over the years, I've made several attempts to cut down the dose. And this is the kind of med that you need to lower by slowly cutting like a tiny sliver off each tablet so you don't right away start experiencing withdrawals.
I've had this off and on battle with my conscience about taking them.. like, this is one of the most addictive drugs in the world (which it is).. and how will you ever live a normal life like everyone else if you need to stay on this medication? What have you done to yourself? This med carries a 75% chance risk of developing Alzheimer's before the age of 65, those are terrible odds! Am I feeling anxiety right now, or is this just rebound anxiety from the pills? Will you ever be able to live without them again?
You know, all that crap.
I've always had just enough in the pill bottle to last me until the next refill. This also made me feel kinda bad. And even when I'd cut down the dose some, I'd still only have maybe just one or two extra. Meds have a way of making you feel like a failure, or kinda weak. Like you just can't cut it in this world like everyone else.
Well, something magical has happened over the past few months. I'd already given up on lowering the dose, just figured oh well, this is life. Accept it.
Ever since I've been eating carnivore + a small amount of organic carbs, the first month I noticed I had about 3 extra pills in the bottle before refill time. No big deal, just thought maybe I wasn't awake long enough to take the usual amount that month.
The next month, maybe 7-8 extra pills..
Month after that, 12 pills.. all extras.
And just now, I counted what I had because I will be needing a refill before I see my doc, so it's one of those situations where you need to call the doc ahead of time to call in the script.
Friends, I HAVE 20 EXTRA PILLS sitting in the bottle this month. I may not even have to call the doc at all.
I can't believe this. I have accidentally lowered my dosage without even trying, or caring.
So how did this happen? Well, you get rid of all the poison-junk foods they've been dishing out at the grocery stores and stick to meat and whole foods.
Healthy gut = healthy brain.
My carnivore friends are not surprised by this at all. They told me this would happen. I didn't believe them, I never believe them. But then they always end up being right.
Today is a very proud day for me, a huge victory. I honestly, truly, cannot believe this.
I'm crying a little, but that's ok.
Just wanted to share, and post this one to remember it forever.
Have a great weekend everyone.

The day you realized .. just WOW

Congratulations! I’ve lost 55 pounds over the last 2 1/2 years, and my anxiety attacks have all but disappeared. (But I’m on an antidepressant.)

@FourWalls That’s awesome. You improve one thing, and then more improvements follow. That’s exactly how it happened for me too.

That’s very SMART to do it that way right from the start.
Thanks Diana
