Three weeks ago, Jay's sister Hazel passed away. Her funeral was a week ago today and Jay's father was present at the gathering.
Who would ever believe, that one week later they'd be planning another funeral? Yes, Jay's father passed away in his sleep last night. He reached the amazing ole age of 97 years old!
Yah, he was quite a guy. His hugs are something that none of us will never forget:)
Dad grieved for years, when his older son Jerry was tragically hit by a car and killed. The little fella was only 11 years old at the time and Jay was six.
One of Dad's most prized possessions, was Jerry's shoes. He kept them on displayed behind glass, in their china cabinet.
Anyway, another family funeral will be taking place this coming week.

@kobesbuddy I’m sure. His poor sister and now his dad. Losing any member of the family is always hard, but two in such a short time. Poor Jay.

@DianneN And about ten years ago, Jay lost two sisters! One to cancer and his oldest sister to diabetes.

@kobesbuddy My Mom made it to 97 also but dementia shadowed her final years. Jay's father was quite a man.

That's really sad but he lived long. A brave man I should say. May his soul rest in peace.

My goodness. I am so sorry to hear of this doubled loss for Jay.
What a tragic way for a child to be taken. Sad about Jerry.

I’m glad he had a long life, but sorry for the loss. I’m also glad that despite the loss of his sister, he did see his father one last time.

I wish you could have been there with them so you could have seen him as well, Kharla. It sounds like you thought a lot of him. He must have been very loved.

Sometimes things work out that way. I didn't know Jay's dad was still alive. 97 is a ripe old age. Maybe Jay will make it that long too!
