I Made a Minor Mistake

No, I didn't have a fender bender! lol Instead, I made a doctor's appointment for my blood test. I have a new insurance, they only pay for blood work once a year. So, I have another six months to go, before these yearly tests are done. Yes, they did give a finger pick, for the 6 months A1C. It was 5.2 which is pre-diabetic! I was happy about this, she even took me off Metformin, my diabetes medication! If nothing else went right, this little bit of information made my day!

So glad you got a good report, Kharla. You seem very self disciplined with your eating habits, so I am not surprised at the good numbers. Keep up the good work!

@kobesbuddy I've actually heard that before, from family with diabetes. Not a fun thing to have, I know.

If they took you out of the meds it means that they trust that you will take care of yourself via reasonable diet. Good for you!!!

Vince is on metformin but he doesn't seem very interested in adjusting his diet in order to come off it.

@kobesbuddy It's the carbohydrates really, isn't it?

@JudyEv Yes, too many carbohydrates, makes the A1C go up. The higher is goes, the more at risk that person becomes. Jay's sister ended up with one leg amputated and eventually, a fatal heart attack. Her blood sugar level was too high.

Actually, I do eat sweets but never a very large portion. Sugar isn't the enemy, too much sugar and starchy foods is.

This is good news. I know a woman with diabetes and she doesn't take care of herself at all. She was forced to stop working at night. The doctors don't allow her to work at night.

I worked nights for six months, my diet was all messed up! Undisciplined diabetics end up with gangrene and dying.
