Amazing creatures we'll never get to see in person

Tuffy was only about 5 weeks old or so, such a lil cutie

Does anyone here go deep sea diving? I'm not brave enough to even just swim in an ocean let alone dive under water in one. The thing is to see fantastic creatures like the one in this video we'd have to dive down pretty deep ......... I'm sticking with videos, what about you?

I would like to scuba dive, but not deep dive. That seems too scary.

@rebelann When they have the tanks on their back and use a regulator. Deep sea diving would scare the heck out of me.

@rebelann There is snorkeling and scuba diving. Scuba diving is going as deep as you want, but the deeper you go, the grayer everything gets.

My entire family scuba dives all over the world except for hubs and me. They know how to respect what they encounter and what to avoid. My younger son can identify almost every fish in the oceans. He’s amazing. I got to see a junior nurse shark when my son and granddaughter visited. They are harmless unless one bothers them. Hope you saw The Octopus Teacher, a movie. I love swimming in the ocean and in pools. Grew up swimming like a fish

I remember you writing about him going somewhere just to suba dive. I used to love to go swimming, it's what mom and us kids did when I was growing up but anymore it isn't fun mostly because the few public pools we have are overcrowded with kids so swimming isn't really an option.

Your son is smart, those kinds of shots are far too valuable to share with the internet

@rebelann I don’t like swimming in public pools. They went to Turks and Caicos over Winter Break to dive. Have some awesome photos, but I can’t share them.

I only see them in videos but because I live over 700 miles from any ocean I doubt I will ever see even the most common creatures in person.

They are fantastic to watch through the safety of the internet, in my opinion, I would not be brave enough to put fins on and dive in myself. I wouldn't know what animals are harmful and which are not. The shots of the octopus move along the bottom were really fascinating. The animals at the beginning, that stood up like snakes scared me.

Yeah, not knowing which creatures are dangerous is scary plus what if there were a huge carnivore who thought I looked tasty ..... I wouldn't wanna be a snack for any of them.

@rebelann I cannot imagine being critically injured and being so far away from gaining medical attention, unless there are underwater hospitals.

I agree, he was so cute back then now he's simply handsome Many people here are like that too yet some of them crossed the Rio Grande River back when it still had lots of water in it in order to get into the USA

@rebelann Tuffy is still beautiful. I would really like to know what happened early in my life that made me fear water.

I did some snorkeling in Bermuda a zillion years ago but I doubt I would do it again. I'd much rather watch a video or the National Geographic channel on tv. As beautiful as some of the underwater creatures are, many are pretty scary Awww baby Tuffy. Cutie pie

Exactly. The videos these days are so awesome. I miss that wee baby, now he's 13.5 pounds and won't let me hold him.

Seeing I can't swim very well at all, I'll stick to watching videos about deep-sea creatures.

I have no desire to swim in an ocean let alone go diving. But I do wish I had a pool for summer so I could swim in that situation. Public pools aren't fun either, the few we have are always overcrowded with kids.

If I had grown up near a seaside I might feel differently but as it is I live in a desert so to me the ocean is a little scary
