27 April - What I'm Thankful for Today

Good afternoon from sunny, warm, windy Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA. The current temperature is 74 F. Too warm for April in Wisconsin. The good news is I didn't get blown away when I went for my walk today on the trail. The wind tried, but I managed to stay upright, even when taking pictures. So, yes, I'm thankful for a good walk on the trail, the beautiful weather, though windy. At least it's a warm wind. I'm thankful for spending time with you today. It's always good to see what's happening in your world. I finished the notifications three times. I'm thankful I uninstalled the food app. When I saw how much difference there was in the calorie count between the actual I posted on Excel and what the food app showed, I doubt most of those high calorie days were that high. There was a 300+ difference in yesterday's totals. I'm thankful I started work on Australia. I should finish it on Monday and get it posted. Australia is a fascinating country. I'm thankful I'm still maintaining my weight. I prefer losing, but if I'm not going to lose, it's good I'm not gaining. I'm thankful I have the numbers for the different macros so I can keep inbounds and not go over. Sugar is the hardest. I kept it under 47 grams two days in a row. Yea! Knowing how much to eat is important, not only the calories. I'm also careful of the sodium. Though the allowance is 2300, I can't have that much by a long shot. Keeping it as close to a thousand mg is best. The other macros I have no problem with as I don't come close to going over. Doing so would be a problem on a whole nother level. Okay, that's my day. Time to get off the computer. See you on Monday. What are you thankful for today? Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me.

I remember a dietitian I knew who used to say that "not all calories are equal. Scientifically, all calories are the same, but how your body responds to them varies. You must learn how your body reacts to the calories you eat.

@just4him I am glad, I was reading a medical report today, the scientists NOW think that sodium is not as bad as they thought in the past. Not the first thing considered "evil" than finally was nothing at all.

@LadyDuck I need to keep my sodium at or slightly above 1000. When I learned what the requirement was, I tried keeping it at 500, but that caused a lot of trouble with leg spasms. So, I gradually increased it. I need a minimum of 1000 mg of sodium a day. I'm glad yesterday was good. If I go way over on sodium accidentally, I drink more water which flushes it from the system. I'm glad it's not considered evil. I didn't know it ever was.

I agree. Yesterday was frustrating, but I got a handle on sugar and sodium. It wasn't easy. I was too low on sodium yesterday and might still have been when I went to bed, but at least I didn't have any muscle spasms during the night from being too low on sodium. I got it over 500 mg which was important but still under 1000, which causes problems for me. But not last night. Thankfully.

New food app, eh? Interesting. I've been thinking of uploading an exercise app to my phone. A starting point anyway. I've been on here for 6 hours. I don't care for salt. When I was pregnant with my daughter I was very sensitive to it. Still am. I swell up if I eat much.

@just4him ......I read a few years back now that we actually need more sodium than they had previously thought. I am very sensitive to it.

I uninstalled it. I'm putting everything into Excel now as I did before. I do too, but we need a certain amount of sodium. Going below that will cause health problems. You can easily get the required sodium from the foods you eat. Not processed foods but natural foods. You and I both know processed foods give you an unhealthy amount of sodium. I blow up too with too much sodium.

@celticeagle So am I, but not enough sodium can kill you. The minimum requirement is 500 mg. You can get that in many natural foods.

Maintaining your weight isn't easy to do, it takes a lot of will power! And cutting back on sugar was hard for me, I used to eat sweet desserts often. Now, a small cookie satisfies my yearning for sweets:)

Finding sugar was the key, I'm down again which makes me happy. It was also frustrating yesterday because in limiting my sugar; I was too low on sodium. I needed to increase my sodium without increasing my sugar. I did and I'm down again today.

@just4him To increase your sodium, just at a little salt to something.

That's good to hear about your day. Counting calories, and specific macros can be a tough job, I know. That's good to keep sugar 47 two days in a row! When I am actually eating how I should...I like to keep mine under 10, and total carbs under 50. Going to try to get back on track Monday, want to get my blood sugars under better control before my soon to be plans. Anyways, hope that the keeping your sugar where you want it continues to go well

Yes, it's hard when sugar is in almost everything you eat. I kept it low yesterday too, and the scale reflected it this morning. Good luck with your plans.

I had a good day, too. So did George. We're trying to figure things out. It's been an odd one. He got his pill on time, though.

I'm glad you like the picture. It shows how low the water is. With the rain we got over the weekend, I expect the level to be way up. We need rain badly. I'm glad you had a quiet writing day. Yes, I did. Thank you.

Losing weight is a constant battle. Maybe some day they will come up with a magical solution. Until then.... I'm thankful that I will see my husband on Wednesday. He's been gone too long. Have a good day.
