Day 104 – Atonement Leviticus 16:1 Now JEHOVAH spoke to Moses after the death of Aaron’s two sons, when they offered profane fire before JEHOVAH, and died; 2 and JEHOVAH said to Moses: “Tell Aaron your brother not to come at just any time into the Holy Place inside the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark, lest he die; for I will appear in the cloud above the mercy seat. 3 Thus Aaron will come into the Holy Place: with the blood of a young bull as a sin offering, and of a ram as a burnt offering. 4 He will put the holy linen tunic and the linen trousers on his body; he will be girded with a linen sash, and with the linen turban he will be attired. These are holy garments. Therefore, he will wash his body in water, and put them on. 5 “He will take from the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats as a sin offering, and one ram as a burnt offering. 6 Aaron will offer the bull as a sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house. 7 He will take the two goats and present them before JEHOVAH at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 8 Then Aaron will cast lots for the two goats: one lot for JEHOVAH and the other lot for the scapegoat. 9 Aaron will bring the goat on which JEHOVAH’S lot fell and offer it as a sin offering. 10 The goat on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat will be presented alive before JEHOVAH, to make atonement upon it, and to let it go as the scapegoat into the wilderness. 11 “Aaron will bring the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house, and will kill the bull as the sin offering which is for himself. 12 Then he will take a censer full of burning coals of fire from the altar before JEHOVAH, with his hands full of sweet incense beaten fine, and bring it inside the veil. 13 He will put the incense on the fire before JEHOVAH, that the cloud of incense may cover the mercy seat on the Testimony, lest he die. 14 He will take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east side; and before the mercy seat he will sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times. 15 Then he will kill the goat of the sin offering, which is for the people, bring its blood inside the veil, do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat and before the mercy seat. 16 “He will make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, for all their sins; and he will do for the tabernacle of meeting which remains among them in the middle of their uncleanness. 17 There will be no man in the tabernacle of meeting when he goes in to make atonement in the Holy Place, until he comes out, that he may make atonement for himself, for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel. 18 He will go out to the altar before JEHOVAH, and make atonement for it, and will take some of the blood of the bull and some of the blood of the goat and put it on the horns of the altar all around. 19 Then he will sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, cleanse it, and consecrate it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel. 20 “When he has made an end of atoning for the Holy Place, the tabernacle of meeting, and the altar, he will bring the live goat. 21 Aaron will lay both hands on the head of the live goat, confess over it all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, concerning all their sins, putting them on the head of the goat, and will send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a suitable man. 22 The goat will bear on itself all their iniquities to an uninhabited land; and he will release the goat in the wilderness. 23 Then Aaron will come into the tabernacle of meeting, take off the linen garments which he put on when he went into the Holy Place, and leave them there. 24 He will wash his body with water in a holy place, put on his garments, come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people. 25 The fat of the sin offering he will burn on the altar. 26 He who released the goat as the scapegoat will wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and afterward he may come into the camp. 27 The bull for the sin offering and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the Holy Place, will be carried outside the camp. They will burn in the fire their skins, their flesh, and their offal. 28 Then he who burns them will wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and afterward he may come into the camp. 29 “This shall be a statute forever for you: In the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you will afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether a native of your own country or a stranger who dwells among you. 30 For on that day the priest will make atonement for you, to cleanse you, that you may be clean from all your sins before JEHOVAH. 31 It is a sabbath of solemn rest for you, and you will afflict your souls. It is a statute forever. 32 The priest, who is anointed and consecrated to minister as priest in his father’s place, will make atonement, and put on the linen clothes, the holy garments; 33 then he will make atonement for the Holy Sanctuary, and he will make atonement for the tabernacle of meeting and for the altar, and he will make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly. 34 This will be an everlasting statute for you, to make atonement for the children of Israel, for all their sins, once a year.” He did as JEHOVAH commanded Moses. God’s name: JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Yeshuwa – Jesus Elohiym – Mighty God God’s character: Lawgiver People try to make scapegoats out of people they don’t like or want to take advantage of to free themselves of responsibility for their actions. JEHOVAH provided a scapegoat for one purpose, to make an atonement for the people. He laid the sins of the people on the head of the scapegoat and sent it into the wilderness. Then He took the kid for the sin offering and burned it on the altar. Yeshuwa was your scapegoat. JEHOVAH took your sins and laid them on Him. Yeshuwa was also your sin offering JEHOVAH killed on the cross for your sin. Isaiah 53:4 Surely, He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by Elohiym, and afflicted. 5 He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, everyone, to his own way; and JEHOVAH has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. 10 Yet it pleased JEHOVAH to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He will see His seed, He will prolong His days, and the pleasure of JEHOVAH will prosper in His hand. 11 He will see the labor of His soul and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant will justify many, for He will bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore, I will divide Him a portion with the great, and He will divide the spoil with the strong, because He poured out His soul unto death, and He was numbered with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. Without Yeshuwa’s death and resurrection, you would be dead in your sin and transgressions and on your way to hell. Without His atonement for your life, you would be lost to Elohiym forever. However, Yeshuwa died on the cross. He rose from the dead on the third day and lives to make intercession for you. All you need to do is accept the ultimate sacrifice on which JEHOVAH gave the law to Moses and fulfilled the law with His blood. Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin. JEHOVAH provided a way in the wilderness for the people to come to Him once a year to atone for their sin. Yeshuwa laid down His life once and fulfilled the whole law for your sin, so you don’t need to shed the blood of bulls and goats for your forgiveness. You only need to accept His sacrifice on the cross. Let’s pray: Father, I am a sinner. I stand before You in my sin. I accept the sacrifice of Your Son as the ultimate sacrifice for my sin so that I can receive Your forgiveness and eternal life with You. Cleanse me with the blood of Your Son and make me wholly Yours. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 1 May 2024 by Valerie Routhieaux The image belongs to me.

I believe that the Jewish religion still observe that day, which they call "Yom Kippur", the Day of Atonement. At least, they are still observing this statue given to them by God. Rather than sacrificing animals, they offer prayers, and fasting, now instead.
