Today in my country and in many countries we celebrate Worker´s Day (same as Labor´s Day in the US).
It is one of the few holidays in which everyone agrees that every shop must be closed. There are worker´s marches and speeches.
And as I see it, there´s a lot more that workers need.
Lately we have a law that establishes less weekly working hours. The amount of paid leave in work for workers who are pregnant or have small babies have grown too.
Things are changing. Not as quickly as they could, but still. I was amazed that lately young congresswomen take their nursing babies to the Congress to be nursed there. That would have been unheard of just a decade ago here.
How is it in your country?

Not really a holiday but I remember every May 1 was May Day and at grade school, we danced around what was known as a May Pole.

It's also a holiday here. We call it Labor's Day. Yet, most shops still open. Office workers and maids no need to work today. Government and legislators are talking about raising the minimum wage recently.

I translated the name from the Spanish. Maybe I should have called it Labor´s Day in English. This is a very important holiday in my country, as imporatnt as Independence Day.

Here in the Philippines, we also have Labor day today. Most shops and all banks, government offices and other establishments are closed. But our shop is still open. I just had my workers had their extra day off since it is their day today.

Here it is very important. But I also think that in my country people try to look for a day when they don´t have to work

I don't know if nursing babies are allowed in Congress here. Hope you had a good holiday. Have a good day today.
