Time to hit the ground running.

Good afternoon. I missed the morning by a few minutes, but honestly, I'm okay with that. It's been a late night and a crazy late start to the morning. George wound up climbing into bed at five 30, after falling asleep on the couch around four. It's not common, he's actually falling asleep around his normal time of around 1. However, last night proved to be just a different day in general. I don't care. George Chilly and I are all taken care of, and I made sure to take care of myself while waiting for George to get up. George's afasia is still there, but our conversations are almost normal. When we're watching t.v. He's pointing out actors he knows, and where they were from. I used to roll my eyes (secretly I still do), but now I also smile. It's another thing that makes him happy. It's another thing that's just, him. It's George. Chilly got fed last as usual, but to be fair, I have to wait until George is up. At least he let me get something from our bedroom when I was being scatter brained this morning. Another good thing, George isn't letting me forget things.

That sounds good about George. He is trying to interact. I have to tell myself this as I watch my husband fall asleep in his chair after eating cereal. He is still here. Just weaker. But here.

It's hard watching loved ones get sick, weaker, or go through a bad time. We want them to be healthy and strong. I want George driving again, I want to go on staycations, I want our lives to get back to normal. But, it's not always about what I want. I have to help George heal, I'm thankful everyday he's alive and I have one more day with him.

@sallypup I love my husband and I am glad he's here. I am sad yours is getting weaker, while mine is getting stronger. I just treasure every day that I have with him. My husband's time will come, and I'll have to deal with that, then.

@kaylachan I'm with you all the way on your feelings. I can't believe the change in my husband in just two years. I'm glad you have George still.

It's those little moments, like watching TV together and sharing in his joy of recognizing actors, that really make the day special. And it's heartwarming to see how George is still engaged and active despite his challenges. It sounds like you're both handling things with grace and love. Here's to more moments of connection and joy in the days ahead!

I'm trying at least. I don't know what good it does, but it's something.
