When it’s Lilac Time

May has arrived and soon the lilacs will be blooming all over Riga, Latvia. How I miss the lilacs in my garden every May. The photo with my poetic meme is of my lilacs. There was a big bush just outside the front door and many others throughout the garden. I had purple, pink, and white lilacs. Along with them the apple trees blossomed and the pear tree joined in. For a month it was like living in a wonderland. I kept large vases of lilacs all over the house. Then it was all over and we were left with a lush greenness and apples and pears starting to grow. I even have memories of my cat Sid at that time lying in a window on the second floor from which he could see the lilacs and the breezes sent the sweet scent to him. I am glad I have photo of those lilacs because now I cannot see lilacs anywhere all I have are palm trees.

@RasmaSandra - Two of my neighbors have palm trees in their garden, those trees are boring!
No flowers in spring, no tender green leaves that turn yellow and red in autumn, not my favorite trees for sure.

We had several large lilac bushes on the home place when I was growing up.
I loved it because the warm weather brought the lovely scented blooms out and my mother would open the little sliders in the bottom of the picture window in our family room, which was right above a couple of lilac shrubs and the scent would fill the house.
May is the month of Mary the Mother of Jesus, and we always put up a little shrine in our home. I loved it when there were fresh lilacs to put in vases on the shrine.

Lilacs do smell beautiful. Our neighbor had a purple lilac bush on one side of his wall and it branched off over the wall and part of it hung in it yard. It was beautiful and smelled wonderful. I am sorry you don't have any lilacs now.
