What should I use to fire up a 14-year-old guitar student who learns well but rarely smiles?

She has been my guitar student since she was 12. She has learned her scales and chords well, and we've worked on a few songs together, including John Prine's Paradise. She can even do a jazz progression I taught her, and play the proper scales over it when I do the chords.
But she rarely smiles, and I can't really tell which songs "fire her up." She is cute as a button, but seems to have very little "silly" in her. Maybe it's because she is of Russian extraction. I don't know. Are Russian people often "serious"?
In any case, I had a brain storm as I was writing this. I set Robert Frost's poem, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening, to music many years ago while on the throne on a -20 F night in Iowa. Perhaps I'll try that one on her (and a couple of other students) today.
The melody is simple and straightforward, and the poem is lovely and not inappropriate for a younger student. Do you know the poem? It was one of my favorite short poems in my "book learnin'" days.

Thank you. That has been my approach. Cultural differences in nonverbal communication are interesting to me. I read that in many Asian cultures, eye-contact can be seen as invasive. But my Asian students at the College say that's not the case so much any more. Maybe I'll do a post about it and see what our Asian MyLotters have to say.

Now it is not appropriate to "tickle" a student.

@TheHorse Nowadays, you can´t even whistle at a beaufiful girl. Yet there are lots of people who should be in prison and aren´t.

I asked her again today. I have asked her many times. We did some work on the poem. And we practiced the Jesse Winchester song I have taught her. I'll link it.

Yes, Russians are more serious. Yes I know the poem. Let us know how it goes. Have a good day.

I guess she is focused. Not everyone is a smiler.
